I'm a fan of benching VY for the year. Still, Kerry Collins isn't going to make us a Super Bowl team. I don't have a short memory and I remember the reason that VY was thrust into action to begin with. Is Simms the answer? I'm not too sold there either. So my question is this: does anyone else see other possibilities sitting on someone else's bench that could take us to the next level? Any option should probably have at least 3 or 4 years left in him for us to consider it.

No. Collins is a better QB than anyone sitting on other teams' benches. Certainly for the short term. If you want to develop another young QB, then draft one in 2009.

Before making a decision about drafting a QB in '09, let's see if VY can get things straightened out. If he can, then we've got our QB for the future. If not, then you cross that bridge when you get there.

But, don't start burning any bridges, yet. :suspect:

I think Vince will get it together eventually. I want him too. I just think the best approach is a conservative and slow one. I think Vince needs to earn it.

He will finally be able to sit behind a veteran that knows the system and learn a little more.

Yeah but Collins barely knew the system. That's why he struggled so much.

I like the decision to bench Vince personally. I think before this happened, he wasn't really putting 100% into learning new things because he knew he had job security. Hopefully this will be a bit of a wake up call to Vince. Maybe something will click and he will start working harder to regain his starting position back. I think by then, he will be more inspired and just a better quarterback overall. This is all on his shoulders though. He needs to WANT to have his starting job back. Hopefully he puts in alot of time this season studying opposing teams defenses, working on mechanics, etc. If his work ethic is good, then it tells me that he is our guy. On the other hand, if he whines about it. Doesn't put it any work. Doesn't watch any film, pay attention in team meetings, etc. then it tells me that is time to move on. Whether Vince ever starts again in a Titans uniform is up to him.

Ohh and remeber guys, KFC has been to a Super Bowl before. He knows what it takes to get there (umm that is if he hasn't lost his long term memory partying ;) ). He may not put up monster numbers, but he will manage the team well and do what it takes to win, period.
