Therre were really good reads, mixed with some bad throws, I really dont think hes reading the D wrong at all except for a few

Interesting this post is up today. I watched the game last night from DVR. I noticed a few things.

    1. ATL was blitzing early to rattle VY. It was picked up 2/3's time. I think other teams realize it gets his timing off on his reads. I believe in regular season one or two draw plays will cool that off- not that worried.
    2. VY was late on his throws about 2/5 times. He missed open WR's and was behind them. Timing issue- this is the area he REALLY needs to work on. I think Chow's 3 second beeper was a good idea. Wonder if Heimi is doing that.
    3. VY is better but still throwing off his back foot about 1/4 times.

I'm less worried now than I was. We should be able to game plan nicely. Chris Johnson is a stud- he looked like everything we hoped he would be.

Every time I watch it, I feel better about Young's progress.

He had the blitz on him most of the time he was in the game. Watch how the pocket is collapsing which keeps Young from stepping into the pass. Dinger didn't do anything to slow it down but will when the Jags come to town.

When he rolls out, he's his most effective. I've felt that way all of camp. I'm sure they'll do this much more once the regular season starts. I think they are using the preseason to work on particular aspects of the passing game.

I also think Young is doing a good job reading the field and working through his progressions. He's not zoning in on one guy. He's making the right decision. Even the pick looks as if Gage quit on the route.

Yes, there were a couple of bad balls (poor mechanics, timed-late) but I'm seeing things begin to click for him. With Crumpler and CJ there when he needs to check down, I think we'll see a lot more production from the passing game this season.

If anyone doubts what I'm saying, pop in a tape from last season and see how far he's come. I think Dinger will scheme around his strengths and we'll see much more success in upcoming weeks if the receivers do their jobs.

The INT was Brandon Jones, and the ball was clearly behind him. If he would've quit on the play, wouldn't the ball be ahead of him if he's running a crossing route? What concerns me is VYs inability to hit the most simple passes, the 5-9 yd smash routes, outs and slants. The blitz wasn't that bad, he still had passing lanes or places to step up, it isn't like the pocket totally collapsed around him except for the sack, nowhere to go. There were a couple of really bad throws in there that a WR didn't have a chance at, Gage's drop was his fault, too much time to think. If you notice though, he doesn't give his recievers te or whatever the ability to catch in stride, they always have to contort their body, or make a sprawling catch for a 5yd gain. I'm not bashing VY, just giving my opinion on the film.

This is positive... he couldn't read a picture book last year and now he is working progressions..his accuracy is still erractic though... I think that will dog him most of his career... McNabb comes to mind there... Now McNabb is mr. check down with an occasional deep ball.. I hope Young doesn't become that... This is Year 3 though... I think he will only progressively get better... all positive...

For you guys who expect every throw Young makes to be perfect every time or for him to be Brady or Manning... forget it... it's never going to happen... He is his own type of player... much like McNair... bad throws are gonna happen... gonna have to get over it.

All I got to see is the youtube video, which isn't even close to tv quality, but I will say what I could tell.

Vince is definitely getting better. Both his feet and his eyes have improved drastically. He's stepping up, going through reads, and making decisions better than ever. I'm with TJ on this one. Tape of this game versus tape from last year would tell the story.

Now the quality is poor, but didn't I see somebody hit Young right at the knees on the interception? That very well could be the cause of the bad pass.

And one more thing...CATCH THE BALL GAGE!!! No excuse for that.

Watch Gage on the play. He's coming in from the right but not as deep. He stops just as Young is releasing the ball.

I'm pretty sure that buzzer you're talking about was from Dinger the first time he was here... but I wouldn't bet on it.

They need to get Vince to consistently make the right reads first and then next year they'll probably work on him getting it out more quickly.
