Well if Sanders played well with both Bethea and Doss doesn't that make Sanders a good player? It can't be a coincidence that both Doss and Bethea made Sanders better than what he is, with all the awards and accolades he has it's hard to believe.

Ive never said Sanders wasnt a good player. I said he is great at what he does. Unfortunately for him, he only does ONE thing. He is rarely asked to cover and when he does cover, he struggles mightily. Bethea can do both...and he can do them both pretty darn well.

As long as their is another actual S on the field with Sanders. That position will be fine.

I wont look at how many deep balls the colts give up when discussing a guy that plays at the line of scrimmage. Why would I?

Sanders sucks in coverage, and is merely a high energy guy that can hit a few guys in the knees to make sports center. Get over it. Or else you're setting yourself up for a heartbreak.

Vince10 said it all with the fact that 31 out of 50 writers thought he was a 1st team all pro. The perception around the league is that there are 5-6 elite players at this very important position with maybe 10 more guys close to that level. It's mainly who had the best year and who was healthy. Palamalu, dawkins, wilson all had off years while reed and sanders had good years.

I do agree that there are good safeties who don't get the attention they deserve like rhodes and hope who maybe should have been a pro bowl player in 06. Then you have the up and coming guys like huff, bethea and griffin and soon to be star kenny phillips. It's a crowded field especially in the afc and when a 5'8 2nd rd pick is able to distinguish himself among that group of fine players it says something..

Because he plays close like that and still can get back into zone coverage?

This is moronic imagine someone saying the same things about blaine bishop who was the exact same type of player except sanders is faster.

    Blaine bishop sucked!

Arguably the best defensive player in the jeff fisher era of this franchise. He made 4 pro bowls and could have made 2 more. 5'9 200 lbs played close to the line of scrimmage like a linebacker. Sound familiar? In his entire career he had just 5 ints. Was in on an average of 92 tackles a season with an average of 70 solo tackles.
