    Agreed...

I agree...which is why I was complaining more than anyone else about LT and Schwartz not putting someone else in there. However, for the purposes of this debate, we can't prove that Lowry or Fuller are better.

The flipside of that argument is that neither Lowry nor Fuller were good enough to even be tried there...so what does that say about them?

The reason why we wouldn't bring LT back is because Fuller is our 'starting' nickelback and can play FS as a backup. Lowry is more of a SS type so he's basically Hope's backup (which isn't what LT does). So giving LT a roster spot for the improvement (if there is one) he'd bring as a backup FS over Fuller is not worth it. Add in his cost and it makes no sense.

So even IF LT was an 'upgrade' over Fuller/Lowry, we wouldn't sign him for these reasons.

No. THAT is the point. I don't care if you upgrade for 1 game. An upgrade is an upgrade. If you run a 4.50 forty time one day and a 4.45 the next day - You UPGRADED your 40. Even if you can't run that 4.45 next week, but you can run a 4.49, you still upgraded.

This isn't a hard concept. A replacement that gets better production is an upgrade. That's all there is to it. There's nothing to get.
If you admit he was better for 1 season, he upgraded the spot from the previous season.

Unless Eddie had a better season after Brown's, and then you might have a case.

A short term "upgrade" may not be worth it. Investing in someone for a small short term benefit isn't necessarily a good use of resources. It's pretty much not worth the effort for minimal results.

What % of total rushing yards did Brown have that year and what % did Eddie have the year before?

I have no clue. Probably because it's about as irrelevant of a stat as we could dig up.

Why is it? Because your 'UPGRADE' only significant upgrade was YPC.

    Rushing Yards

    George - 1031
    Brown - 1067

    TDs

    George - 5
    Brown - 6

    % of Rushing Yards

    George - 63%
    Brown - 57%

    Receiving yards

    George - 163
    Brown - 147

    Team Rushing Stats

    2003 - 1623
    2004 - 1871

So basically in 2004 Brown contributed less to the overall rushing %, had 30 yards more, less receiving yards, one more TD and he was an upgrade?

Looks like the significant difference was Antowain Smith.

Uhhh, that article is so stupid, I don't know where to begin.

I'm a Colts fan with absolutely no love OR disdain for Jeff Fisher, and all I can say is that he's a classy guy and he's tough to beat.

You wanna compare him to Dennis Green? OK, we can do that. Give Jeff Fisher the 1998 Vikings' roster and see how many years IN A ROW he wins the Super Bowl. Hell, give Fish the 2001 Vikings and see how deep into the playoffs he can go (Green went 5-11).

Since 2000 (Green's last winning season), Fisher has 70 wins compared to Green's 32.

No offense to anyone, but this article has a nasty "black coaches get no credit" odor to it.
