I think it is obvious that MR handles things differently than Reese. Reese started out as a GM who had not only player personnel responsibilities but also was the one who hired and fired the coaches. Later Fisher got control of the coaches but there always seemed to be a line drawn between the GM and the coach.

Now MR, the coaches and scouts all basically sit down days before the draft and talk about the needs and the prospects. Much of the agreement is the result of working things out beforehand. It is more of a team effort. I always thought it was ridiculous for a GM to be making a personnel decisions before consulting with the coach who was going to use the player. That is why Fisher and Dinger certainly had alot of influence in the Johnson pick. He wasn't just one of the BPA he was a guy who really fit their needs and what they wanted to do.

A RB who runs a 4.24 40 who has great hands seems like a weapon to me.
A TE who runs a 4.6 40 and can block seems like a nice addition to the offense to me.
A WR who will probably have as good or better career than Thomas or Sweed sounds pretty good to me as well as a WR weapon.

That is three offensive players in the first 4 rounds.

I guess the war room could have pulled a Randy Moss out of their arse and drafted him but they couldn't so they didn't.

the experts gave the titans draft a D- and i know everyone is taking comfort in the fact that the experts are always wrong and know absolutley nothing but would everyone be saying that if the experts gave the titans draft a A???? hell no they wouldnt !!!! everyone would be bragging about how mel kiper and co.. gave the titans a A and how the experts are always right... look the experts are wrong sometimes and it is impossiable for the to be right 100% of the time but the bottom line is the experts study each player top to bottom ... they watch film, they talk to the players coaches, they talk to the players themselves, they talk to all the scouts who have watched most of these players play all season sometimes two then they take all that data and make thier opinion... its not like they check out thier combine stats and then make thier opinion... so i think as titans fans we need to step back into reality and hope that some of our vetern players step up but if we are thinking that this was a good draft and some of these players should make an imediate impact chances are we are fooling ourselves... i hope im wrong but chances mel kiper and me are right...

I think this is a pretty bold statement. I believe if the titans thought he would be the best receiver in the draft they would have drafted him earlier just in case he didn't slip so far. I hope everyone was wrong and he is the best receiver, but it's kind of early to be saying a guy who was the 2nd receiver on his college team will be the best out of this class. As for everyone being unified, you guys can't actually believe this can you? Of course they're going to say that when there were a few questionable picks from the publics perspective. If they came out and said their were a lot of disagreements then fans would be even more questionable about the picks.

You are crowning yourself already. Based on what? I think you're right about Titans fans needing to step back to reality. The reality is there is no way of knowing how this draft went. None, NOT ONE, of the Titans draftees have seen the field yet. So, stop claiming it's a terrible draft based on YOUR draft board.

We needed playmakers on offense, check. We needed a young TE, check. We needed d-line help, check. Based on those facts alone, it was a pretty decent draft.

i love the optimism bro but who did we draft thats going to be better then sweed or thomas??? if you want to consider a blocking tight end a weapon well be my guest... and i was talking about a weapon to throw too and i wouldnt consider a running back a big time threat at stretching the field and catching the ball i mean think about all the runningbacks in the nfl and their is only one that is a consistent pass catcher from the runningback position so the chances of chris johnson becoming are leading reciever is highly unlikely.. also just ecause a player has speed doesnt make them an awsome nfl player... now in college thats a different story if you have speed you are more than likely to be sucessfull but in the nfl it takes alot more... again love the opitmism but i just dont see it
