Anyway you look at it, missing on a #6 draft pick bites. The trade terms were not good for the Titans - no terms could have been. But given the extortion/hitman developments, I give Pac a 10% chance of seeing the NFL again. Given the way things have gone in the past with him, I'm not expecting the extortion spin to hold up under investigation. Neither is the FO - in a matter of days they went from a 4th rounder being nowhere near good enough to realizing he was going to be out of the league soon anyway.

We didn't get a 4th round pick for Pacman Jones. We just released ourselves from a football contract with a guy who may never play football again. It stinks and it was maybe the best we could do.

As was your post #136 in this thread....with that post I can now say that the two of us have finally arrived in complete agreement on Pacman.

    May he rest in peace...:))

I totally agree. And why Reese is gone, IMO. He may be the scapegoat if Fisher condoned the pick and said he could keep a leash on him. Either way, the front office has to be accountable for the selection.

River, for the umpteenth time, it says NO WHERE that the NFL's policy is based on due process, arrests or any legal action. If Goodell feels what a player is doing goes against the image he wants for NFL players, he can, and does, suspend them.

Yes, it is totally his own judgment. But in the case of Pacman, it's been totally justified and continues to be justified. He gave Jones 10 games to get it together and he didn't change his ways. He was going to reconsider it again after the season. Again, Jones did not change his behavior enough to warrant reinstatement.

Guess what? We now know Pacman lied to Goodell about not knowing the shooter. I suspect he'll remain suspended until it is proven he did not know the shooter which is looking less and less likely by the day.

I don't think that is the case at all. We have three months from now before training camp and the next time Pacman will be considered for reinstatement. If Pacman isn't cleared, hasn't stayed out of trouble, etc. he'll stay suspended.

I'll state it right here and now that I think this trade is a total waste because Pac will never be reinstated and the Titans will be giving back a four in '09. I don't think we've begun to see the mess which is going to arise once Edwards gets in front of the DA and tells his story.

pac man = 4th round pick

that is just stupid stupid stupid

when he is leading the league in punt returns and ints all titans fans will be pissed

dealing McNair almost made me leave the titans, trading a first round top 6 pick for a 4th rounder and if he isn't reinstated we lose the pick....pffffffffffft

we already went through the hard part and now it looks like he will be reinstated and we deal him....dumb dumb dumb dumb

What an idiotic statement. After the numerous incidents off the field, some of his behavior on the field and then to find out that he wasn't being upfront with the Titans about this whole alleged extortion, what are we supposed to do? Still have this cancer around? REally? At what point do actions off the field and the character of the player overtake what he does on the field.

How anyone can defend keeping him a Titan is beyond me. This doesn't come down to draft picks or stats, it comes down to poor character and whether or not you want it on your team anymore.

The Titans did the right thing. Period.

how about on the field character, Albert almost puts a guys eye out in the middle of the game and he gets a 4 game suspension? pac has not been found guilty of anything and was the best player on the team when he was here and we toss him?

worst case he plays for us....cancer? these guys are professional athletes getting paid to play a violent sport...i dont think a single one of them can not deal with pacman....

they dealt with him pretty good when he played and i would put a ton of money on it they would welcome him back with open arms

simple fact, we are a better team ON THE FIELD WITH PAC MAN JONES! i run a business and trading my most talented yet difficult employee is something i would never ever do
