Do you guys read the article?

I really don't think this an image thing. It's probably a player safety issue, where someone could get seriously hurt by being yanked down by the hair. (Think neck injury)

Still, I think a player should have the right to keep long hair. I wonder if it could just be tucked into the back of the shoulderpads?

The NFL's always been about "uniformity" on the field, so I was surprised they allowed it in the first place. Heck, players are fined if their socks aren't pulled up or if their jerseys aren't tucked in.

the league didn't seem to have any problem with it when people started pulling ricky williams down by his dreads. in fact, they said it's a part of the body, therefore fair game.

grow it at you own risk.

yeah, i figure if it's really a safety issue it would have come from the player's union years ago. just the top brass being the top brass.

FYI...The "No Fun League" is the most popular sports league in America. Guess Americans absolutely hate to have fun.

It strikes me as bigoted to assume that being rich, old, or most especially offensive, white, would have anything to do with the decision, or be an acceptable pejorative to describe the owners.

shhh...we can ignore that. Makes us feel like racism isn't part of it. Or just old guys that think long hair is thuggish. Whichever sounds better.
