yeah, but the draft is all about planning for the future of the franchise, just because a receiever isn't an instant contributer doesn't mean he won't develop. problem is, when you draft crappy recievers (like the titans have) they never will develop or grow, they just stay the same.:grrr:

another issue with the development of receivers in a Jeff Fisher environment is that they're not given full opportunity to grow.
they are asked to block and play special teams
it's hard to expand on your talents when you're only thrown to twice a game

So Paul Williams, Brandon Jones, Joel Filani, and Courtney Roby isn't enough proof. Drafting a WR in the 1st is the best choice because it's for the future. For example let's say the Titans drafted Devin Thomas in the 2nd. Now skip ahead a few years. Titans are in the playoffs and no more rebuiling. Who would you rather have, a good WR in Thomas or Malcom Kelly who's a Pro-Bowl WR. With alot more talent to help go to the Super Bowl. The point I'm trying to get at is that the draft is for the future not the present.

Okay so all we have to do is draft high? Hmmm how has that worked out for us?

We got Kevin Dyson. Thats the only WR we've drafted in the first round in the past 10 years. Dyson was very productive while on the team. (Music City Miracle)...so what's your argument?

Draft a WR first round so that we can start looking ahead, ahead to a better franchise.

drafting Kevin Dyson was in no way a success
he wasn't even supposed to be a part of the Music City Miracle

picking Kevin Dyson instead of Randy Moss was a bad bad choice
he was only in the league for 6 seasons
and his last season (with Carolina) he played in 1 game and caught 2 passes

Agreed. Dyson was OK, but not a great value for the pick. If we had chosen Moss, it could be argued that it might have been the difference in a large Trophy or two in the 99-03 timeframe.

Well, he could have become another PacMan Jones here and could have brought the team down. Or he could have dominated. There is simply no way to tell.
