Hackett has been one of my favorite FA WR's for some time. He has incredible potential although his career has been plagued by injuries. I've read on this board (and other forums) how he's an average WR, no potential, etc.., which couldnt be further from the truth. Here are what his stats look like when he actually started for the Hawks:

69.5 yards/game and 10 TDs in 14 games. That's a TD in 71.4% of the games he started in. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me. That is also with him battling injuries throughout his career.

He's fairly big (6'2'' 210 IIRC), very athletic - he had the best long jump and high jump at the 04' combine, and he is obviously fast - he has been the Hawks' deep threat for a couple of years now. His YPC is very, very good.

Say what you want about Hackett, but make sure you have your facts straight. He has as much or more potential than Stallworth or any other WR on the market this year. Yes, he has injury concerns but there is no doubt he is talented, and if healthy could be a big time playmaker.

We turn healthy FA wr's into early retirement. What do you think would happen if we got an injury prone one? I'm betting he wouldn't make it through pre season.

I just don't see the point in signing nother proven average WR with limited upside when what we need is a playmaker. When healthy, he was Seattle's best WR by far.

Why resign Albert? He's as injury-prone as they get

So I take it you think we should have let Albert walk after this season?

Hell no,he's way to important. As long as he stops chasing QB's to the sideline he'll be ok.

So you're for signing some injury-prone players, but not others (especially at a position where we desperately need help)?

Al hasn't played a full season since 02', when he only started 3 games.

Al has missed 14 games to injury in 6 seasons(96 games). 9 of them were for a dislocated elbow which was more down to his technique which he has admitted himself. The other 5 was 2 with a knee and 3 with his hammy. If he misses 2 games a year for the rest of his career i'd still have him for what he does in those other 14 games.
