If someone remembers where it is, please post a link with Berrian's response to the radio call in show where he discusses the above play.

If I remember correctly Berrian points out that it would've been a penalty for him to make the block at that time in the play.

And this free agent receiving class looks to have: Moss, Hackett, Berrian, Stallworth, Muhammad, Marty Booker, Peerless Price, Jerry Porter, Bryant Johnson, Earnest Wilford, Justin Gage.
There is also the rumor of Javon Walker possibly being cut. Also Larry Fitzgerald, Chad Johnson with trade rumors.

Now I'm not saying that the free agent class in full of 5-star NFL receivers (whatever exactly that would be), and cases can be made against each person....
But if you are holding out for Moss, TO, Steve Smith, and every other top 10 WR to be a FA in the same year to call the FA class good, well it's never going to happen.

Berrian is definantly a deep threat. He might not have a great 40 time, but I've seen him stretch the field while checking out a few games, and is more than capable to... You can't put too much emphasis on the 40. You have nobody in front of you ready to jam you off your route, and it doesn't take into consideration accuracy of your routes which help alot against corners. A good slant route can take it to the house, while a fly route can have little to no impact.

True, and I probably shouldn't have mentioned them anyway since I was talking about FAs.

I think CJohnson will stay a Bengal. But Fitzgerald, I'm just not sure what Arizona is going to do because they're cap situation isn't good and Fitz is expensive!

I would be ok with Berrian being the FA vet we bring in, as long as we are drafting a WR in the first 3 rounds as well. There are others I prefer, and I do want us to re-sign Gage as well.

A lot would come down to price, all things equal i like Stallworth better for the Titans, his speed could really open things up.

Well, the hot rumor right now is Roy Williams being back in discussion. Bidding starts with a 2nd rounder, with some rumored possibility of a Detroit accepting a future (2009) pick.

I think Sweed may have changed the discussion after today with his 4.46. If he's the best all around receiver, with the best work ethic, running that kind of time (4.53 was the other, I believe), he bears serious consideration, and maybe foregoing this FA class.

Reinfeldt did say our best chance for a top receiver was via trade, so I've got my eyes open for that.

lol @ people saying Berrian can't block because they saw ONE video replay where he was criticized by a complete moron that doesn't understand that a WR can't block on a screen pass til the ball is caught.
I'm not wild about Berrian, but saying he can't block because of this play?

Thanks, that's the clip I mentioned earlier.

Berrian wouldn't be my first choice, but I would be optimistic if he was our WR signing.

If you watched more than 4 minutes of Bernard Berrian, you would see that he doesnt block and is soft. He's a soft player, thats it. There were more instances besides that specific one against Philly where his refusal to block/get physical was easily noticed.

yo man y u so agressive. from the wr class this yr its true ther arnt that many options...we gotta try something....im sure everyone here would much rather trade for a receiver than get one of these guys. personally i think bernard and stally are both decent options and i dont any of them will be gettin major big contracts...at least im hoping not..neither has done enough to justify that. so if we can get them for a reasonable price we should take a chance on it. however, ur right in the sense that they are not very good options...i mean barnard didnt do tht much and stally caught only 3 of bradys million td passes and boiut 600 yards of his 4000+....so im hopin that wil drive their prices down quite a bit.
