Wow... you're right. I just did the research on it, because I really couldn't believe that it would be correct. Even though Ben Troupe was our first pick back in 2004, but it was in the second round.

The Patriots are running 90% of their plays out of the shotgun and still have success running the football.

Granted, they have some talent to accommodate such a style.

This is one of the best ideas that has been proposed on the board in a while.

If it's going to work, we will need the right RB for it. We need someone with tremendous burst. Unfortunately, Lendale is not that back. Is Turner quick?

We will also need at least one very solid possession slot WR (or a TE who can line up out there) and one speedy deep threat. I don't think we have any of those.

In my opinion, having watched the run and shoot my whole life at UH, with the Houston Gamblers, and the Houston Oilers, the offense has never been stopped, and you can run it with every kind of WR imaginable. You can run it with heavy and skinny rb's. And even bad rb's. It doesn't matter. It works. I have never seen a defense stop it. I have seen better players beat it, but never stop it from succeeding at a very high level. The QB will take a pounding if they immobile, but the offense it designed to sustain long drives, and quick scoring strikes. There is only one team I ever saw that gave it a hard time, and that Was Buddy Ryan's Eagles. Given that we have had success in our version of it, I see no reason not to use it full time. It's a simpe conclusion to me.

After the performance in Cincy, we may just play our way into the Darren McFadden sweepstakes.

Nobody runs the run & shoot anymore. It is not the same offense.
