SUMMARY: The Titans face another tough test in containing the run Monday night when they face the tandem of Deuce McAllister and Reggie Bush. So far this season, the Titans have improved their 30th place position against the run in 2006 to rank seventh in the NFL against the run, allowing just 78 yards per game. The Titans held Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew to a combined 48 rushing yards in the season opener at Jacksonville, then followed that performance by limiting Colts running back Joseph Addai to 81 yards on the ground last Sunday. “That’s what our defense is built for, to be able to stop the run,” DT Albert Haynesworth said. “The years that we were really good, that’s what happened. We were one of the top run defenses.” The Saints currently rank 19th in run yardage after two games.

I think Brown is becoming a very formitable weapon for us. I look for him to have a great game. Everyone watches for albert, I watch Brown. Bush, watch TFO for Brown.

I think the Saints will try to exploit the middle of the field. We stink in the middle of the field. Tight ends and receivers flashing across the middle seem to eat us up.

Hopefully, the Saints don't have anyone close to the skill of Dallas Clark to exploit the middle. But I would run the middle screen to Bush/McAllister until the Titans proved they could stop it.

They lost their starting TE for the season this week, I think. No they've just got Eric Johnson, who hasn't really stepped up yet. But he could have a good game.

The same RBs that haven't done crap this year are the key?

I'd say keeping Brees from getting into a groove is the key, not the RBs since they don't seem to want to use them properly.

Mike Florio at ProFootballTalk.com provides a great "high level" preview of the Titans-Saints game this Monday. For anyone concerned that the Saints will repeat their opening Monday night performance from last year, this is worth the time and effort. As a general matter, his website is excellent for insight into all things NFL.
