SUMMARY: Ravens QB Steve McNair knows and appreciates what a solid running game will do for a QB. He felt for his friend Titans QB Vince Young when RB Travis Henry left as a free agent to the Broncos. "When you have that ability to change a game all by yourself, you don't need as much," McNair said of Young. "I would love to see them continue to have great receivers around him. I think the young guys will do well. But what I'm concerned about is the running game. I think what makes a guy like Vince go is the running game. Because you know he can pass the football and you know he can do things with his legs. That's what gets the passing game started, a good running game."

Most on this board agree, but it doesn't fit the FOs so called "plan".
The thought, "Why would you hire all these guys to do what our one-man-band can do all by himself?" will do nothing but shorten Vinces' career.

Thank you fitan! That is the stupidest thing our FO can do. I mean sometimes I honestly think they don't think seriously. They make some of the worst decisions I have ever seen and you don't see other teams in the NFL doing that bad. Yea there are plenty of teams that are strugglin and might not have a sold FO but ours is def. in the top 5. The field, the running game, recievers, letting players go, etc. Just look at everything. Besides last yr. look at the 2 seasons before that. Even before then lets get rid of Lorenzo Neal our lead blocker (look at LT now) and let Eddie a great RB at the time run straight at a defense with no protection and wheres Eddie at now? UGH! Sorry guys but it's really starting to get to me.

Let me remind everyone a year ago we were ready to trade T. Henry for a 5th rounder.

I agree it is hard to put a lot of faith in any of our RBs right now. But I had zero faith in T. Henry going into '06.

Let's hope a year from now we are talking about finding a way to sign Brown to a long-term deal and/or finding ways to get both White and C. Henry on the field the same time because both are solid offensive weapons.

How we felt about Henry prior to the start of last year is completely irrevelant. We simply didn't know at the time if Henry was washed up and worthy of a back-up role only. Henry proved he wasn't washed up and played back to the form he had with buffalo in his prime. Obviously the Broncos could care less about perceptions of Henry prior to last year and apparently they understand the importance of a good running game to a young QB.

I understand to a point what you are saying considering we didn't expect anything out of Henry and yet he had a great year and hopefully the same can happen with one of the three backs now on the roster. I do expect Brown to provide a decent return on investment this year and I'm glad we re-signed him. However, the ignorant attitude the FO has cost us a 2nd round pick, a 2 mil contract to Brown and we still are uncertain if our running game will be decent. McNair may have been right on when he says his concern is the running game.

My only point is things my not be how they appear on the surface. According to many out there, we are to believe we don't have the ability to be a strong running team because we have Brown, White and C. Henry. I am simply pointing that Brown was the man entering '06 and we were willing to dump T. Henry for next to nothing.

Perceptions are what they are now and can and do often change.

The concern is ALWAYS the running game, IMO. I don't know of any team who is overly successful without one.

And I'm not willing to call not paying T. Henry an $8 mil bonus ignorant. I wouldn't have done it. I'm also not willing to call the drafting of C. Henry ignorant though I question the pick. In time, we can make that judgement.

I think the thing I've noticed on most championship teams, in that the lesser players all thrive off the greater players attention. Not the other way around. Vince is the reason the running game will be good. Which is why I think it we be in top tier of the league.

I think a lot of people are forgetting our running game will be 11 on 11. Most teams go 10 on 11. Think about that. It's huge. It's like having one extra player on your team for every running play. And every passing play.

I agree with Jeff and with McNair. What McNair is saying shouldnt be new to even a casual observer everyone knows to have a great QB you must have a great running game. Jeff is right we don't know how our 3 rbs will perform this year but it's not hard for me to believe we could have a better running game this year than last year for more than 1 reason. First our running game wasn't very good til Vince took over at QB and started to make plays. Henry really got going after major changes were made in the Oline , our Oline will be better than last year and Brown had a year off to get healthy and stronger. LenDale wouldn't be the 1st or last hot shot RB to come to the NFL and think he didnt have to work so hopefully he has seen the light and will improve a great deal this year. If our Oline opens the holes for these guys we will be in great shape in the running game.

The running game will just fine thank you. Now it may not have a single guy that is "the man" as in eddie's days, but with a very, very good young OL (young except for mawae that is) I predict we will be well inside the top 10 in rushing. You heard it here first.
