He's a Lamont Thompson that can tackle.

Griffin has been doing it at D1 for longer. Nelson maybe had a little more sizzle. I think experience won out.

    "Comment:
Williams is intimidating, athletic and makes plays. He is the classic prototype strong safety. He punishes receivers over the middle and can make game-changing tackles. He is tough, plays with a mean streak and is an outstanding hitter. He thrives when playing in the box and attacking near the line of scrimmage. He is an excellent blitzer who has a second gear and good upfield burst to the quarterback. He reads plays quickly and has sideline-to-sideline range. But Williams isn't nearly the player in coverage that he is against the run. He isn't comfortable or effective in deep-half (cover 2) schemes. He isn't as good in zone or man-to-man as his tools suggest he should be. He has trouble in turn-and-run situations. He simply isn't natural in coverage and moves further out of his element the farther he is from the line of scrimmage."

if you're looking for an extra linebacker, he's great, but that is not griffin's game.

Griffin seems to be a more complete player than Nelson. Whether he's playing the run, pass, or special teams he can bring it. I like this pick.

Roy Williams is a linebacker playing safety. His coverage skills are atrocious. He would make a great LB though.

And for the record there is no 'e' in Griffin.
