Fisher Says Defense Must Improve in '07

i think JS should go (hey, maybe atlanta will hire him)...but the reality is he is going to stay...

so, in that case we need another S (bye, bye LT), another CB (bye, bye Hill), another DE (bye, bye LaBoy), another DT (bye, bye Haynseworth and/or Smith) and maybe another LB...this is almost common knowledge now...

I'd look into playing a 3-4 instead of a 4-3...that may be one solution to our inability to stop the run or rush the quarterback...

but I will say one thing for JS's defense...he is doing a good job of creating it to beat the colts...the colts usually fare worse against a defense that can stay in the same allignment for all 3 downs...when teams try to get different players on the field for 2nd or 3rd down, peyton will eat them alive...peyton is also pretty good at reading defensive schemes, so the way JS played it this year with almost no pre-snap movement and everyone in a normal position is a good way to play the colts...

 

More than I care to think about. I have posted several times I absolutely hate when we do that.

 

Whoever decided to start LT all year should take responsibility for this team not making the playoffs.

 

and we better have depth at DE and DT next year...seems the last 2 or so years we have been decimated by injury on the dline...

 

You guys are really rough on Schwartz. Frankly, I think he is a good DC, not in the top 10 but I think he knows his stuff. I believe there is a reason we played off the ball so much this year in the secondary and that is because of a lack of talent. Hope was great and Pac came on strong in his coverage skills but Hill and Thompson were weak links. We need to replace those guys. Just look at what happended Sunday with those guys and big plays. This is not the fault of the DC. I do agree that perhaps Courtland Finnegan should have been given a shot at starting. The kid looked good when ever he played and he just seems like a football player who will make plays.

I would like to see us also replace Sirmon and add another D lineman with one of our top draft picks. We have some talent there but is was stretched thin this year. The perfect example is Travis LaBoy. He simply can't play as many snaps as he was asked to do and be effective.

 

Schwartz needs to go. From a coaching standpoint, the mental intrigue of the game is to expose a team's weakness; Jim Schwartz is our weakness and he has been exposed, not Lamont nor Peter Sirmon. He has not been able to disguise or protect our weaknesses sufficiently, therefore he is the one getting abused.

at least when you're ranked 32nd the only place you can go is up...

 

i think fisher should coach the D just hire another D assistant. hell several HCs call O plays.
