    I think fisher would have rather #9 rework his deal for say 2 years start this season and then step aside for VY next year. It would have been ideal, McNair could have retired a Titan and passed the torch to VY.

    to think that fisher would rather start kerry collins, billy volek or vince young this season over mcnair is pretty hard to believe.

    I am sure he really didn't want to... but SURELY he wasn't willing to have him eat up 25% of our cap.

    Of course he didn't WANT to trade McNair, none of us did (well save a select few, you know who you are). However the situation was such that it was impossible to keep for the greater good of the team. I think Fisher realises that, I mean if McNair stayed he would have had to release Sirmon, Pillar and Olson and maybe even a few others, and considering he won't even bench them, I doubt he'd want to cut them.

    I'm gonna say that he didn't want to trade McNair, but probably thought it would be for the better. And I don't think that he wanted McNair to get locked out of the facility.
