Old school it was about not allowing yourself to be intimidated. “Standing up to the bully”meant you’d have get physical. Fights weren’t the same then either it was fists and wrestling/boxing. Maybe a black eye or a bloody nose. Now fighting is knife and gun club.

I learned that I might lose a fight but not backing down meant that bully wouldn’t try me again because I’d get a few licks in. It was just easier pickins’ for him to go elsewhere.

I’m not advocating bullying or “counter-bullying” in today’s society because it truly is different. But I honestly did gain a lot of self confidence from the old school process of not backing down. Old school Bullies only fought you once.

So many people say this or want to believe they have this mindset, but you
right. They don't actually live by.

I had a bully in middle school and learned not to take sh*t in high school and beyond because of it.

When standing up to a bully, you learn a lot of them are all bark and no bite, and once you fight back, they leave you alone and move on to a new target.

Is it lonely up there on your pedastals? Sitting here taking the moral high ground out of one side of your mouth while making fun of Deuce's fashion out the other. Leave Deuce alone!

Yes. And the win is how you feel about yourself for refusing to be intimidated regardless of whether or not you “won” the fight in other people’s eyes. You really do gain a lot of self respect.

Yup. Most bullies are just fragile and insecure so they try to project the tough guy image. I remember this one bully from elementary school everyone was afraid of. He'd constantly intimidate people, smack them, punch them. No one ever fought back. Then one year in middle school I guess people had enough and he got his ass kicked 3 different times in one year. He wasn't a bully anymore after that lol.
