Whiz reportedly got fired because he was unable to protect Mariota. I think Robinson can use that as leverage for convincing Adams that a new offensive scheme needs to be implemented, and to trash Mularkey's. They invested a #2 pick in a franchise QB who is regressing under him.

You can't regress when you weren't a pocket QB to begin with. M8 is just too slow to escape which is my main concern for the future. We spare no expense on offense to protect and support him, at the expense of D talent and we still can't stay on the field. With the losing this franchise has done since 2007 we should have 20 pro bowlers by now and superior talent. Half the people posting here could go .500 with this group. This is a royal mess with nothing in the near future to get excited about. I saw an ad for Titans' tickets with PSL's starting at $100. Apathy is still rampant.

He came out of college very talented but very raw. Of any top QB pick in recent years besides Bortles, he needed the ideal situation in which to thrive as a player. The owner of this team has failed him miserably.

Mariota has absolutely no physical limitations which should make him poor at escaping the pocket. The opposite, actually. He just likely needs many years of repetition and experience to develop pocket awareness , but he never looks comfortable in even a clean pocket, which likely leads to his startling inaccuracy and inconsistency. That is on the coaches.

So we spent a #2 1st round pick on a raw talent that will take years to develop with the right coach? Not a good plan. As I have said before-m8 is fast but not quick. Big difference. And you are correct. He's not comfortable even in his 3rd year. Bothersome.

Check out player profiler. Compared to other QB combine marks, he is in the 98th percentile in terms of speed, 91st in terms of burst, and 93rd in agility. He is fast, quick, and explosive. Arguably the best overall athlete at the position.

The problem is that he doesn't have the instincts to process things and react as quickly as someone like Watson. He'll learn through repetition. It's all mental.

Who is the other #1 who will take years to develop?

Mariota isn't quick? My lord, can you just go away again. The problem with this offense is they saddled Mariota with a bunch of stupid coaches, and an OC who admits to being a bad play caller.

This team should be running an offense similar to NE, short quick throws to get the ball out fast. Mariota excels in the short to medium, get it out of his hands quick and use a lot of PA. But this coaching staff is too focused on their "exotic smashmouff".

Great stats. Maybe all those guys sacking him will see them and give up. He's been playing QB half his life. When do you think he may catch on and learn to evade the rush with all this agility and quickness? Hopefully he will have some "oh chit" moments and take that first step quicker.

I'm my opinion, they should have worked more rollouts into his game since day 1, so he'd be more comfortable on the move and give the defense something else to worry about. Instead, he's a sitting duck without an escape plan.

Some guys are just crafty and thrive under duress, as we saw with Watson. That's not Mariota.

I have a sneaking feeling Mularkey shouldn't ever have ever been hired.

Tough franchise for coaches and fans. Mularkey was a combination of "best available" and "last chance". Like closing time at a bar.
