what makes the 2015 broncos defense among the greatest ever? Was it the absolute horrible QB play and still winning the SB? It wasn't points allowed.

Almost 4K? It was 3800 and that ranked 14th in the league (still not top 10)

Now you've adding coaching as a necessity too. Still won't acknowledge that Defense (not QBs) win championships.

They were ranked 4th in points allowed, giving up 18.1 points. They were 1st in the league in yards allowed. 283.1 per game.

Broncos held all three playoffs opponents, to an astonishing combined total of 44 points. that's less than 15 points per game scored by offenses featuring top-notch quarterbacks in Ben Roethrapist, Brady & Cam Newton. Denver collected 27 takeaways, tied for seventh-most in the NFL, but still posted a negative turnover differential (minus-4), illustrating just how little the offense contributed to the cause. Accomplishing such dominance in today's offense-driven environment is even more impressive than what some of the big-name defenses of the past did.

Maybe the 2015 Broncos defense’s raw stats don’t scream “one of the best defenses ever,” but a deeper dive into the numbers shows this a unit that should be celebrated as one of the best to ever win a Super Bowl. Denver raised its game in the postseason. They took on three of the highest scoring offenses in the league, the Broncos allowed only 14.6 points a game. They slowed down Pittsburgh’s big play offense, disrupted New England’s highly precise attack and absolutely battered Carolina’s Cam Newton. Did the 2011 Ravens?

Simply put, Denver’s offense did its defense no favors compared to other modern day champions. The offense finished 29th in the league in giveaways, turning the ball over 31 times, including three interceptions returned for touchdowns.

Their defense was bad but the talent was always there. Horrible coaching has always put that team in disadvange.

    Actually he does.

In the past 10 years, there were alot QBs in top 10 those years that faced one another in the SB.

    2017 - Ryan vs Brady
    2015 - Brady vs Wilson
    2012 - Brady vs E Manning
2011 - Ben Roethrapist vs Rodgers
    2010 - Brees vs Manning
    2009 - Warner vs Roethrapist

Honestly it isnt even close... its a QB driven league. Period.

So again, you've pulled all kinds of abstract numbers to say how great this D was and it ultimately boiled down to them being even better "historically" because their offense was so bad. They won the SB. And so what if Baltimore wasn't as good or NE from the early 2000's. That only continues to prove my point that a top 10 QB isn't necessary and as much as you want to argue, you don't need a historically top defense, just among the best of that current year.

    Total 180 from this post:

And they're good this year because of their top 10 QB play?

False. Texas ranked first last year, How about the Jaguars this year? You cant possibly think they are SB contenders.

And, I said the past 3 years they had good defense because the talent was there. They been building their defense for the past 3 years. It isnt like they just started being a good defense this year because of their signings this year.

If you honestly think NEs 2001 defense was anywhere near as talented ad the 00 Ravens or 2015 Broncos defense then you really werent watching.

So what if the Texans were #1 in yds allowed. A) I never stated the #1 defense is the team that will win and B) they were #11 in Pts allowed behind (you'd probably never guess but) NE, those same guys that won the SB.

The Jags defense is performing very well this year, but no, I agree their offense will probably hold them back, but they are in position to make the post season and possibly challenge for the SB.

Their D was not good last year or any of the 3 years as proven by their rankings at just about everything over those 3 years.
Your subjective take on being good because the "talent was there" is irrelevant and not backed up by anything.

Once again, I never said this. I am in complete agreement that both the 2000 Ravens and the 2015 Broncos were better than 01' NE and 12' Baltimore, but that doesn't help your argument in any way and still just points out that defense wins championships and can even without a top 10 QB.

As a matter of fact this is my quote: "And so what if Baltimore wasn't as good or NE from the early 2000's."

You can only names two solid defenses in the past 10 years that had won the SBs. I can name atleast 7-9 QBs that won SBs in the last 10 years.

You cant use Broncos defense as an excuse to your argument then for winning SBs, because they were much superior to the 2011 Ravens, wich leads us to the Ravens being the only good defense the last 10 years to win a SB.
