You can add "people who don't overreact to the first 4 games of a rookie QBs career" to the list of people who wouldn't trade Mariota for Watson right now.

and in those 4 games, he's looked better than MM8 has at any point in 3 years....

16 TD's in 5 starts is mighty impressive indeed, but lets see him after coaches have a chance to study him.

FTR Mariota and Watson are both my favorite QB's in their drafts. Any team would be happy to have either...

And even still-

Opposing teams have nothing to do with the kid's ability to:

Throw a damned good deep ball.
Look off defenders.
Add touch to passes.
Have laser precision on some dimes.
Elude pressure and improvise.
Have poise in the pocket.

Game planning isn't going to strip him of those tools.

 

Last year Mariota from weeks 5-12 had 21 TD’s and 3 INT’s and 2,073 passing yards. Get those are MVP type numbers over that span.
