I definitely agree with you in that we have a lot of young, great, talent and for a second year head coach making the playoffs would certainly be a great stride. The only thing that I would push back on is the fact that this is his 3rd chance as an NFL head coach. By no means am I going to say that that is an immediate dismissal of his abilities and write him off automatically. However, that absolutely must be factored into the equation and thought process. Would you be okay with, hypothetically, having Super Bowl caliber talent on a team and mediocre at best leadership on the sideline that ultimately equates to a couple of playoff appearances until the current player talent retires, moves on to other teams, loses a step, etc..? We all know that in football the lifespan of a players career, especially at the top of their game, is much shorter than most sports. My main point is simply that we do have a lot of young excellent talent, and I just would hate to see them not developed and coached to the best of their abilities in their time with the Titans. Again, I am not writing him off solely based on it, but Mularkey's track record of mediocrity as a head coach in the NFL with multiple teams should be factored in to the equation.

His track-record is bad both of those two teams his been an HC he's never had a chance to build his own team, bring his own personnel, both of those two stints in Buffalo and Jacksonville were very short. Hes by no means a Belichick or a top candidate for one of the best coaches, but he had a good year last year as a coach and the guys seem to really like him. If we do have a SB contending roster I think we could still overcom our flaw under Mularkey. I mean just look at that Arizona roster in 2017 under Ken Whisenpunt, the same douche thar decided to sit Kurt Warner in favor of Leinart. Granted he had 3 HoF players on that roster, but thats one example of a talented roster overcoming an mediocre coach, thats if you consider Ken Whisenpunt to be a better HC than Mularkey.

Mularkey was only safe beacause they didnt want to 'flush the whole system' so that Mariota doesnt have to go through another playbook change.

Ken Whisenhunts & Bill O'Brien offensive playbooks are one of the hardest to grasps, wich is also another reason why we struggled under him as an HC. Only a veteran like Rivers could fully grasp it. It takes atleast 3 years to fully understand it.

Mike's is pretty vanilla and QB--friendly offense.I think him being on the team for few years is what really won him the HC job.

I don't have a problem with Mularkey. If the Browns tripled their W total and beat a bunch of playoff teams under a new HC, they'd be ecstatic about him. But when most of the people keeping up with the team act like children and call players names and act like nothing is good enough for them, I guess this thread makes sense.

The Mularkey situation kind of reminds me of the Del Rio signing in Oakland.. 'in a way'

Alot of OAK fans werent a fan of his playing style when he first got there.. but over the years of some good picks and the roster turn around that they had now they are a title contending team. Or atleast an AFFC threat.

I think we are few picks away from being just that. But this year we should have enough talent to make the playoffs anything less then that is a huge dissapointment.

OK so you must've missed my point... I do not think the team should win only because of the down years for other teams. My point is: If Mularkey is capable of winning the AFC South; he WILL do it this year. I also want the team to be capable of winning any season. I think all real fans want that....

The real story here is; there is NO reason for us to not take the South this year.

I assumed that was most likely the point you were making, but when you did not make it clear that was your point, and then made that ludicrous statement about "never been a more talented team in in Nashville" surely you can see where I had to question you. Having said that, I do completely agree, there is no reason whatsoever we should not win the AFC South this year. Especially since the other teams are all having down years.

Let's not even bring Whisenhunt up in this conversation. We'll chalk that decision up as one of the many terrible decisions made by the Titans over the last 8 season. To your point in regards to his short lived stints in Buffalo and Jacksonville... He most certainly was not in control of either team long enough to build "his" roster. We are completely in agreeance on that fact. But you have to assume there was a reason his tenure was short lived in both cities. Let's not beat around the bush, the Adams family has not been the "shining city on the hill" when it comes to decision making over the last decade. I'm not automatically writing him off, and I'm certainly not rooting against him. Im just saying let's not give him a free pass and waste the talent we have now by trying to rationalize his staying in any way we can. I guess it boils down to, for me, the old saying "let's call a spade a spade".
