Not meaning to argue, as you are right, but the downtown area of every single city is thriving. Even if you go to the ones with "poor" planning like Detroit and Memphis, you will see a lot of new developments in the heavy foot traffic areas. The economy is in a relatively good place, and buildings which were previously vacated due to the recession are now being repurposed. Nashville is just having an influx of people that no amount of planning can handle. That disjointed infrastructure is a mess.
All large cities in vein of Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, etc. are a mess and completely unwieldy, IMO. But people are moving there by the boatload, and I assumed that's what he was saying about Nashville.

Not saying they don't exist, but off the top of my head I can't think of anywhere that has what Nashville has going on downtown. two pro stadiums, the heart of the tourist area, the ryman, the symphony hall, ascend, convention center... ALL in short walking distance. None of that is by chance or just a product of our current economy.

Atlanta is a cluster****. That's why it, and many other cities expand outward, or claim the suburbs as its own.

One of the things people forget....

Nashville is an extremely cheap place to fly in and out of....

Being a hub for Southwest Airlines--- one of the cheapest, easiest and best value airlines around, only helps when out of towners decide to go to an away game.

Hell, I flew round trip to Las Vegas for under $300 non-stop

Flew to Denver for under $200 roundtrip, non-stop.

Flew to Southern California r/t for under $280 once upon a time.

BNA is one of the best kept secrets in America (unless you are an NFL fan)

Also, in the past several years, after market tickets in Nashville are extremely cheap compared to other NFL cities.

I once paid $80 a seat for nosebleed seats at Paul Brown to watch Titans lose by 20+ when on StubHub, people were practically giving away seats to Titans games

    never again
