Just think about the NBA and how high the washout rate is with those extremely mentally and physically immature athletes. At least there's a higher level of collegiate football players that actually get an education.

I can find a washout College basketball player who left after sophomore year at any walmart or liquor store these days.

I like that way too but would the NFL have 32 teams worth of players to fill their "AAA" teams. Not saying they need A, AA, and AAA but when NFL Europe existed it was only 6 teams for the last 3 years.

As far as college being strictly a farm system, I think it's duel purpose. Not gonna pretend the NFL doesn't do this, but I do think it's for the players safety/future as well.

I hate the way the NBA/NCAA basketball does it. When we talk about all time rivalries of college basketball clearly the front runner would be Bird vs. Magic and that will never happen again. NCAA hurt themselves by allowing the 1 and done. Lucky for them, March Madness is a cash cow.

A Florida/northeast bus league in the spring would be the best option. There is a stadium in Jacksonville, Orlando, Miami, Tampa, Tallahassee, and Gainesville. Then all of the stadiums within a reasonable driving distance up north.

It would work out great. But why do it when the NCAA does it for you free of charge?

Try to add revenue from the minor league system. NFL is in the business of making money and I get they are saving money by not having to spend on a farm system but they are also eliminating any possible profit from a minor league system.

For example in baseball the top 20 minor league teams averaged just under 10 million in profit per team.

Football costs way more than baseball does though. Most major college programs are lucky to break even before donations, and yes, that includes a lot of the blue bloods.

It should happen. I think player development would be better because the prospects would be in real NFL systems during their formative years, but it won't happen. The NFL hasn't had to bother with it up to this point and they don't want to.

I think the profit margin for a minor league football league would be higher but I also agree with your last point. It's just a lot easier to continue doing what they're doing and there is almost no risk.

Why? - They've got plenty of time for recovery, a good nights sleep and lots of meeting and all the aid and tools in the world to help them. They're not training 2-a-days or anything similar, that could wear the body down.

Cyclists lose a couple of pounds (and power) during a 3 week grand tour, but they are being worn down each day and doesn't have time or opportunity to recover. That's completely different wear and tear.
