We have a lot of things to look forward to in camp. I too can't wait to see how our passing game explodes with the newbies. But, even more important will be what we see after the pads come on. What will the defense do? It doesn't matter how good Mariota and the boys are, if we can't dominate on D, we won't challenge for a championship, or even win the AFC South for that matter. That's really the biggest question coming into camp, will we dominate on D?

I'll answer that for you...Absolutely not. We also better pray that we don't have significant injuries, especially with our pass rush and or Logan Ryan.

I find the whole offset language thing strange. If a player wants it removed, it's almost as if he doesn't fully believe in himself and abilities. If you're good, no team will cut you for nothing during your first contract. So wanting to be able to double dip almost seems like the player doesn't think they'll last the duration of the first contract.

It's important to keep in mind that NFL agents are paid based on % of the contract, and are not allowed to exceed 3% of the player's entire contract. Agents are also paid their cut at the same time as the player gets their salary, not up front all at once.

The vast majority of the time, the offset language issue is pushed by the agent since anything could happen, and every agent has been burned on a large contract due to a stupid mistake by a player. Not putting offset language into the contract gives the agent the chance to double dip as well when the player does, assuming the player continues using the same agent. Otherwise, the agent wouldn't be getting his full cut of both contracts he had to negotiate for.

First round draft picks are confident enough in themselves to accept an offset language clause. Agents like to play it safe.

Derrick Morgan & Brian Orakpo staying healthy and productive are so key to the defenses success because of the piss poor depth behind them
