I understand that with pratice their 'work' is almost daily for 6 months but I gotta agree that IF a player wanted, that is made it a priority, then they could in fact 'build' during the season. Priorities would need to be set and adhered to excreta.

Even with practice there would be tons of time to concentrate on a particular area and they get tons of 'not playing & not practice' time. Im thinking Waterson could make it happen with any player that made it a top priority

It is apparent from this conversation who has ACTUALLY played high level sports.

It's called a grind for a reason. You'd be amazed at how much massage therapy, hyperbaric chamber use along with nutrition takes place weekly and still you are fighting an uphill battle.

Exactly. Even if you can maintain or make gains one week, fall behind one week and then it carries to the next week and you start behind again. Throw in a short week due to a monday night or thursday game, or a minor injury that requires resta and more of your body's ability to heal and the player is even further behind.

Regarding Mariota, extra 10 pounds could help or hurt his injury chances. 10 pounds of extra weight/force on his knees could lead to a higher chance of a tear. OTOH, less mass on his torso can lead to harder hits and less cushion. Staying healthy in a game as brutal as football is mostly luck

I think that basing someone's opinion based on what level of football they played is ignorant and you should be ashamed of yourself.

If football was so easy, why do they only play 16 games per year(excluding playoffs)?

If there was truly just 11 minutes of "playing time", why then are the careers and shelf lives of football players the shortest amongst all athletes?

Have you ever met a retired NFL football player? Does their body work like a normal human being, or any other professional athlete for that matter?
