I am saying that the constant sprinting of the season, which is catabolic, breaks down muscle and fat. It is much easier to break down muscle than it is to build it.

Athletes lift weights to maintain weight the best they can during the season, but there is very little "building" during the season. Losing weight is inevitable during the season.

The physicality of the sport is a variable, but it is hardly the main or only reason.

again, they only play 16-20 times, 23 at most. And during those games they only actually play, sprint, block, tackle a small percentage of the time. In fact less than 15 minutes of actual PLAY TIME. 11 minutes

The most efficient way to be in a catabolic state is to use something called HIIT: High Intensity Interval Training. Basically doing ten seconds of high intensity activity and then 30 seconds of moderate intensity activity.

For example, a football field is rectangular in shape. Jogging the length and sprinting the width is perfect. Your average heart rate is higher because instead of doing 40 seconds of moderate intensity, like riding a bike down the road, you're doing 10 seconds of intense work and 30 seconds of moderate work.

Sounds like football and hockey to me.

Again, those ****ing facts getting the way of nonsensical bull****.

DUH, but again, THAT DOESN'T prove his original statement that their bodies break down without rebuilding during the season. All I'm saying. And more like 10 seconds of hard and 30 of very low.

There is no rebuilding during the season. There is maintaining. If you don't understand that then you are a lost cause.
