I'm thinking slightly less than 25. 23-25 most likely.

I think he will get more than Carr because of the way the teams are built. Even if the Raiders can't win without Carr, I feel like their Defense was better which has helped him. Because of that, I think Mariota's agent could play the card of Mariota being more valuable to the Titans than Carr is to the Raiders. I think it's close, but I agree.

This season will be the difference maker. Right off the top he needs to play in 16 regular season games.

Nobody is going to take a ten million dollar low ball when there are 27 or so other people lined up to pay you.

Why do you think Marcus has any loyalty to Nashville? He's not from here. Hell, id wager he'd love to be in cali closer to home.

I'm not saying he's going demand a ridiculous deal and screw us. But he ain't taking a 40% pay cut just because he's a nice guy.

    No no.

His value to the raiders is less than half of the picture.

His value to the OTHER 31 teams is what sets his price.

Let's say you work at a bar. And it is over staffed. You ask for a raise. The boss says, sorry, I can't, you just aren't worth it to us right now.

But 25 other bars up and down the street have horrible bartenders and want you bad, and are willing to overpay.

What will you do? Why would Carr or mariota do differently?

TOP level QB's don't ever hit the market...NFL is designed NOT to let that happen.

I was just going to say something like this.

When has a great QB ever turned down a contract and walked in FA? Teams pay to keep QBs and the market is usually in the ballpark of the QBs signing the same year/year before.

I don't think the Titans offer 15 mil a year and Mariota certainly wouldnt take such a deal...but I still think he would take less than "top paid player" money. Probably would be a few million over the life of the contract, not 10m less a year.

I agree on that being how both of their price tags will be so high, but both Tennessee and the raiders aren't saying you aren't worth it right now. Both are basically gonna fork out whatever it costs to keep them. I see in that negotiation Mariota pointing out that Tennessee needs him more than Oakland needs Carr although that's debatable.

I'd also add that whichever one signs first may make the overall difference.

Well Carr already signed. So we're on the clock.

I would expect we will begin that process this offseason. Price only goes up to wait.
