Yeah good observation for sure...Apparently he had decent hands, so I'm not sure why they didn't try to utilize his size etc. He did look pretty damn solid running too. I like a good run game, so I'm happy to see us doing it well again after so much bs with the line and CJ for so long.

I think they open up the passing attack a bit more this season. A couple of things make me think that.

First, they drafted 2 WRs early.
Second, last season Mularkey and Robiski were constantly on the receivers for running routes short etc, so I don't think there was a lot of trust in the WRs outside of Matthews.

Davis and Taylor are both run after the catch guys so that opens up the possibility of short and intermediate throws turning into big plays, which matches Mariota and the offense well.

Of course, the Titans are build to pound the ball... As long as they can run at will, why not? But I do see the possibility of opening up the play calling a little more this season with the new additions, plus Mariota being more comfortable in the offense etc.

A long time ago one of my other favorite teams drafted a once in a generation big man from the Ohio State University. Had he stayed and been healthy through out his career and assuming he stayed here (which he probably wouldn't have). They would won multiple titles. Health and the lack of it was the only thing going to stop him. Had he stayed healthy he would have translated.

I feel the same way about Marcus.

Injuries is the only thing that could stop Mariota from having a great year 3. We have a top 5 O-Line and running game and a much improved WR corp.

I am personally terrified that Mariota has lost his burst and overall speed when he broke his leg. I don't think he will ever be the same again running. Hate to see that part of his game put in jeopardy and limit himself to be only a pocket passer.

Can he stand the hype? Yes, if and only if, he can stay healthy. Remember thus far, he has yet to complete a full season. If can't stay healthy, he will just amount to another Jake Locker.

Eh or he can become Matthew Stafford. I think it's easy for people to forget that Matthew Stafford was like Mr Glass the beginning of his career, I want to say he ended his first 2-3 seasons on IR, but now is considered an iron man QB that plays through many injuries.

My point is this can go both ways, much of staying healthy enough to play in today's NFL is being lucky as much as skill. Staying healthy through 16 games is a skill and I personally expect Mariota to learn how.
