    If he's a starting cb on the outside, might not return kicks. But if he's our nickel, they probably do let him go full special teams.

    Depends on how he looks vs Weems and Kalfani and anyone else we try.

    You guys are suggesting he plays a full game on defense, all returns on special teams, AND offense?

    We'll all enjoy it very much until he gets hurt and we lose a starting cb and kr/pr in one shot. He has a small frame and if you overuse him, he will get hurt!

    We don't need him on offense. Save any few offensive plays for the playoffs or a super bowl.

    I was remembering that speedy guy the Ducks had on their roster when Mariota was there. Allen, I think.

    They had a lot of speedy guys...which was the problem. In college, when you can't match up athletically to the receivers, then they pound it up the middle against you nickel and dime defenses. bring a guy down in the box and Mariota pulls it out of the rb's stomach and beats you over the top.

    Think back to Mariota's first start against the Bucs where we kept running the zone read and he ripped them up with it. Here and there it's fine. But we tried to make a living on it and you don't always have the speed mismatches in the NFL.

    But I get your point. We have receiving options to really hurt teams trying to stack the box and they won't be able to focus on just one guy either!

    The days of defenses putting eight in the box against the Titans might become a thing of the past. We should see more nickel and dime packages as well. Murray has to be as excited as Robiskie today.

    Last year, Mariota looked best in the spread offense when he could go to a fast pace. I think we'll see a lot more of that this season.

    Honestly Alabama wasn't even his best game but it showed me more about him as a player and person than any of the other games he went off in. Teams getting crushed but he had absolutely zero quit.
