There are no guarantees. We have to hope JRob has assembled a group of players that he feels has the potential to improve that secondary.

I think we'll see more defense taken today.

Have you ever heard anyone say Revis is small? Why is that one of the most frequently said things about Jackson? Do you think everyone who says so is a hater, or that it may be a genuine concern?

    I've found reports he's 5'-10". Maybe that's why.

I just don't think a couple of inches matter if he's on the hip of a WR. He had a 36" vertical at the Combine. That's the same as a few 6 ft. guys.

He seems to be solid versus the run. He's 186 lbs now and I expect he'll bulk up a bit in a year or so.

He's played outside most of the time at USC so I would not be shocked to see him get an opportunity out there immediately and only moved inside if he's not ready.

Really OP? We snagged one of the most athletic corners in the draft and a comer in FA that's better than anyone we have had in years.

    He went third after Humphrey.

The size isn't a problem. There's plenty of good 5'10 corners, even at man coverage. Verrett's arguably the best in the NFL right now.

The problem is his ability to play man coverage. I don't give two ***** about a Jim Thorpe award, it's about as useful as a Heisman in assessing pro talent. The reality is the guy gets beat in coverage continuously, and that's not what we need again on this team.

You could sit there and say he's a developmental project, and I wouldn't argue against that at all. Problem is you don't draft a project player in RD 1 unless he's a QB or getting to your QB. Right now, we have a punt returner that might be able to develop some man coverage skills in a few years. That's not good for us trying to compete this year or even next, which I originally thought we had a good possibility of doing.

I just don't get how when you see pictures of Davis and Adoree standing next to each other that there is only a 4" height difference. Davis looks like a foot taller.
Even in the twitter list on the right hand of this page there is a picture of Davis and Adoree getting off the plane. The height difference is striking.

The defense will be improved. It is addition by subtraction. Out with the ineffective secondary from last season and in with fresh attitudes and talent. It is all a according to the plan. Koo coo cachoo Mr Robinson !

It's also gonna take awhile for the secondary to gel, seeing as there are all new faces with zero remaining veteran presence who've played in the current system besides Searcy. That's gonna be an issue

Really anywhere on the defense, but yeah, especially secondary. That why IMO, once you have your QB and something to make sure your QB doesn't get killed like David Carr did, you really focus on developing your defense. RBs you can plug in day one, the rest of the o-line is the same. Receivers are a bit more shakier depending on how smart they are at route-running, but by year two they've generally figured it out or havn't.

It's probably going to be years now before we've fixed these defensive issues unless we go on some FA splurge and get lucky, and that's if we focus on defense next year, which after thinking we would last year, I'm not getting my hopes up again.
