To me, projecting Thomas to 3-4 OLB who can kick inside in sub packages is what you'd be hoping for. I don't see him adding 20+lbs of muscle to be able to play 3-4 DE. He's simply not big enough or strong enough to hold up vs the run at DE (34).

There is no way in heck I'd take a player in the top 10 who I'm projecting to another position unless they are crazy athletic and already show me the traits somewhere else (Myles Garrett moving to OLB for instance where Im rushing him 95%). Thomas is too much of a project so high IMO. people keep saying he can play 3-4 DE but I don't see it at 273lbs where he sometimes has trouble in college. One on one hes very good at disengaging. But in the NFL he's gonna get combo blocked a lot and they will move him. And while he could be a very valuable inside pass rusher in sub, Im not taking a player in round 1 just for that.

Thomas SHOULD go to a 4-3 team that needs a dynamic LE! We ain't it.

Curious why you have Allen so much farther down since his size and skillset is good for 3-4 DE and subpackage pass rushing.

I agree. I don't see Thomas as a 3-4 DE. If we were a 4-3 team, I'd probably have him #2 behind Garrett. Part of why I put him high on my list is that I think of him as a very high end version of Dodd and we apparently had a plan for him. Again, that was the toughest guy for me to slot. Realistically, I think the chances of my top 4 coming off the board before we pick is pretty minimal, so I'm probably look at him at 18 or a trade down.

I just don't like Allen as much as other people seem to and I like our DE's. I don't want to give up Jones's size and obviously Casey is solidly holding his role. I do think he is too productive of a player to totally write him off, so 16 on my board is probably late 1st round. If I were looking for a 4-3 3-tech DT, I'd have Allen much higher.

    Allen wouldn't be a 3-4 OLB, he'd be a 3-4 DE.

So I was at Kitchen Note for brunch yesterday around 1130....We were being walked to our table and i'm 99% sure I ran into Solomon Thomas...I think

So while the rest of my group was still at the buffet line..I was the first one back to our table and as I'm sitting there...some tall blond guy is walking towards me and its none other than Kirk Herbstreit sitting right behind me with his family

7 cb's in round 1? Lattimore and who? Most think Humphrey may sneak in (if you don't care that your cb can't find the ball), King has the perfect blend of size/speed/measureables so he should get taken by Seattle if no one else, Adoree probably sneaks into first for his athleticism/upside/return ability, Awuzie and White are 50/50, Conley will probably fall to round 2-3, Jones won't go higher than the 2nd, and Wilson is too much of a gamble (for me) to go in round 1.

Problem is, first round cb's should have been...
    Lattimore
    Sydney Jones
    Gareon Conley
and a pickem between White and Adoree (or both if the run starts early).

I'd be shocked if the 5th or 6th or 7th cb knocked a legit pass rusher out of round 1.
