I'm perfectly ok with JRob front loading an entire contract, it's the only reason NOT to spend money on free agency. But to use a scenario 3 years down the road as an excuse not to spend is just another excuse to keep profit margins in your pocket. In 3 years, we know that Mariflota and Lewan will get restructured, that money is accounted for and us saving money this year has nothing to do with that pile.

That's not being "salary cap Prudent", that's being cheap.

The cap goes up every year and we will have plenty to extend those two when the time comes. The reason some of us are so frustrated is with another cb, hightower, and maybe a wr like Pryor, we could win the division. I really think we are just a few pieces and another good draft from winning a bad division. I would rather try and win with marcus now than worry about extending him later.

We are cheap on spending for players but have no problem raising prices to the fans. That is what is frustrating.

I figured some of you JBob suckers would be infuriated at the ticket price increase seeing as you need new knee pads from all the gargling you've been doing! How are you gonna afford them?

Did we ever find out how much more tickets will be?

It's usually only a couple dollars per ticket when they up the prices

And why would anyone need new knee pads? JR only been around a year. Surely peoples safety equipment last more than a year

Just trying to understand the way cap carryover works. If we go into this season with 35m in leftover cap and next years cap # is say 170m, then our total cap would be 205m?

So if our cap is increased to 205 next year and we only spend 150, we can carry over 65m the following year? Im assuming that this can't go on forever and would start over ever 4 years or so, because that could get way out of hand.

I'm pretty sure it just keeps rolling over from year to year

This is WHY a lot of us are overly frustrated that we are not spending big bucks in free agency to bring in big time players!!! other teams are putting their money on the field. We are simply not using a chunk! Why? Ask the owners!

But as far as I can tell, we carried over about $20mil in unused cap going into last season (that's an extra $20mil over the normal cap we could have spent). Going into this off-season, we carried over more than $24mil. So all those people freaking out we 'only' had about $70mil in cap space, we really had almost $100mil we could have spent. Jags carried over $39mil. No wonder they've been going on shopping Sprees. And the Browns carried over a ridiculous $50mil!

$24mill is 2 star players signed to long term contracts! If we'd gone after Brandon Williams and AJ Bouye, our carryover cap would have paid for them alone. Wouldn't it have been nice to go into the draft with a beast at NT and two solid starting cb's???

With the draft and an aggressive free agency, we can fill all of our holes AND upgrade a few spots to be able to compete with the NE's of the league. Until we open up the check book, we are tying a hand around our back!
