Because we don't pay as much dead money for cutting him in a few months as we do now. I expect we will, and draft a safety at 5, either Hooker or Adams.

Then you have 2 rangy free safety types and a 3rd down nickel LB for 26mil. Lol that still makes no sense! Should've just signed Hightower, brought back Spence and drafted Adams or Hooker. Your scenario creates an abundance of redundant players

I understand the offensiv philosophy of smashmouth football. But that doesn't work defensively in this era. Like Ensco said, Cyp is a 90s pure SS thumper, those guys don't exist anymore, for good reason.

Adams isn't a FS, and most of Byard's snaps and success came from the box. He may of have been drafted as a FS, but he's developed and shown more success as a SS so far. Having Byard play either role depending on who we draft wouldn't be redundant at all. Cyprien can't play every down, we signed him as a rotational safety that can also play the nickle role, because that's what we do and what other teams do.

And we showed interest in Dont'a. We can't force people to sign with our team.

I like how someone tried to say Cyprien can cover Tight Ends and will be used for that along with being a guy to stop the run.

Then when a couple of posters say he isn't and JWill shares someone who covers the Jags quoting he is bad against Tight Ends, you switch your narrative to "well, he's not a cover safety, and this team won't use him like that."

    Please, which one is it?

I literally don't see any 'rangy' FS types there. Byard would be the closest and still think he would be better suited at SS in today's NFL. Against run heavy teams you could plug Cyprien in as well. I'm all in on Hooker or Lattimore at 5. Would love Myles Garrett to fall, but don't see it happening. If they do get Howard, hopefully Conley/Humphrey/White fall to 18.

Also, the Titans could cut Searcy to save money, but they have cap room so what would the point of that be?

I also don't understand this notion that Byard is a SS. If he is a SS, then Searcy and Cyprien are MLBs. Laughable at some of you guys. I guess we don't even need coverage guys, it's like you're so blinded by the Homerism you forgot our biggest weakness over the last 3 years has been Pass Coverage.

And you want to put more Strong Safeties in coverage? LMAO

Byard and Hooker could be on the field together. He played in the box a lot this past season. Cyprien likely will play an LB role in special packages. I don't think jamaal Adams is a fit because then it would be more SS's on the field. If you add a true center fielder at FS like hooker that helps your CBs.

If we plan on keeping searcy, than adams is out imo. Hooker would be the favorite, by a long shot. But, idt we'll be going s unless one of adams, hooker or peppers falls way down the board

Hooker is an option just because of talent. But CB might be a bigger need. Never know with DL though, could come up with something for 3 rotational S's.

Byard showed more in the box as a Coverage S than he did as a single high FS. Cyp and Byard in the box with Hooker over the top in the BN would be very good actually. Cyp basically filling a Gap and running down hill while Byard roams or covers the TE/Hot read zone.

Also opens up some inverted 2 high looks with Byard and Hooker, or nickel looks with Byard and Hooker.

Run downs you can rotate in Cyp depending on the team tendencies. Last year they used all of our S at FS. Stafford, searcy, Johnson, Byard. Didn't matter.
