Like someone else posted, many players taken before Dodd in the draft had poor first seasons. So should every team in the league go on a purge and just cut their first round picks from the prior year because they struggled their rookie year, a period in which players are infamous for struggling during? No, because that's idiotic.

Should I list the ones taken after that have been quite successful? Stupid line of logic. It was a bad pick. I'm sure JRob would agree if asked in private.

And FTR, he was benched for poor attitude/effort. Not a development problem. And before you want to say his underwhelming performance was due to injury, it was a chronically developing discoverable injury.

Our #33 overall pick wasn't vetted thoroughly enough IMO. I think he'd been around in the 3rd or 4th round.

To not face the music he just wasn't a good pick at #33 overall is what's idiotic.

Not arguing good or bad pick, but this guy has 1 year under his belt in the NFL (not even a full one counting injuries). He may still pan out to be a serviceable regular on the DL. Only time will tell if he lives up to his draft spot of 33. If not, add his name to the list with 1000's of other players that never lived up to their draft spot.

Aaron Rodgers wasn't "successful" his first 3 years in the league. What an awful pick! They should have just admitted their mistake and cut him after year 1, despite all of his potential, just because Riverman thinks that's the way things should work.

And you thinking he'd last to the 3rd /4th and speculating he was benched because of poor effort/attitude shows your football IQ, which is extremely low.

AAAAANYWAY threadjackers, I feel like this FREE AGENCY was fairly successful, if for no other reason than the addition of several quality players brought in for specific roles. It will be interesting to see how Sylvester Williams and Cyprien are used and if they can reach their potential with this squad. Will Logan Ryan play largely in the slot as he did in NE? What kind of effect will our special teams trio have come game time? Lots of interesting story lines going forward.

So were the other non productive guys. And an equal number of lower mocked guys have outproduced. My point is, just because others get it wrong doesn't mean it is acceptable or excusable.

I don't have a prob with JRob. But it drives me crazy to hear folks rationalize what we've seen out of Dodd is any where close to what that #33 pick should be. That's the same standards I've heard for years as we've watched 2nd round picks bust mightily in this organization.
