First of all, by adding Williams and Cyprien to the roster to plug the run, we're giving Byard carte blanche to patrol the outfield, essentially adding a ball hawking player full time into coverage.
Secondly, it's fair to believe from what we've seen that JROB and Mularky have more belief in Sims and Tajae than the average bear. If they are confident that we can go into the draft with what we have and a Lattimore/Davis draft would give us ample depth, I trust em.
Thirdly, let's not forget about the third wave. Roster cuts and camp trades. For all we know, the Titans could have Josh Gordon and Joe Haden on the roster by the preseason.

I know everyone is high on Howard and thinks because Mularkey is a former TE Coach it is a perfect fit. However, a second TE is not getting a lot of snaps.......Is a 1st round pick sitting on the bench doing anyone much good?? Is Walker going to sit more?? I hope not considering he is one of our most productive offensive players.

Everyone talked about how many snaps Henry would get going into last season. The snap count would be nearly 50-50........ Henry is yet to see as many snaps as Murray. Even when Murray was hurt he took the snaps. Even when Murray NEEDED to be rested against the Bears when he was largely ineffective. Don't get me wrong Murray played well last year. I think he could've been better at the end of the year with more rest. Mularkey caters to vets. He is going to play Walker for the majority of the snaps unless Walker is not capable of taking the snaps. Even Johnson took snaps from Matthews until he retired. Matthews was clearly the better option. Matthews played more for sure; but also complained that Johnson took part of his snaps. He said, he could've been more effective if given those snaps sooner.

How quickly we forget....... I do not think this team has the luxury of taking a player in the 1st round that is not going to make an impact day 1.

Even when that 2nd guy was "Wide Open" when did they contribute much to the offense last year?? I do not remember Fasano being "Wide Open A Lot"..... Supernaw certainly was not "A Lot"..........

The scheme features 2 TEs most of the time.....Yet the 2nd TE is not nearly as active as a pass catcher. Nowhere near.......Yet because it is Howard that will change??? Walker is the guy who will be catching the passing downs for this team. Everyone who watches the Titans knows Mularkey is a vet guy. He has always catered to vets. If we take a TE in the 1st he will be a blocker. The equivalent to taking another olineman in the 1st that can EVENTUALLY take over for Walker. Who by the way, has shown NO signs of slowing down. Yes he is aging. But he is playing the best football of his career.

You may be right.....If we take a TE in the 1st then for the sake of the team you had better be......This offense is not good enough for a 1st round pick to be riding the bench for a year. Is that a chance worth taking??? I don't think so. The guy everyone is in love with has not even produced above average numbers on a regular basis in college. Many say that is due to scheme. However, if Saban is this college HCing wizard everyone says he is: Why not take advantage of this superstar that has just wasted on the roster for MOST games???

I just believe that we have a far bigger need at WR. It has been a need for a VERY long time. A 1st round pick there is going to see the field more than a TE.......IF the GM picks the right guy. As bad as our WR group is right now; how can anyone debate a starter is needed much more there than TE???

Matthews, Sharpe, Douglas are the 3 that would be starting now.......Matthews is a good #2......The others are below average. The #1 & #2 WR will see the field more. Why not make them players who will make a difference??

I still think DB is our biggest need. However, going WR with our 1st pick might make more sense due to the talent available at DB in the draft. Any way it goes, I cannot see TE as the best move to improve the team in the near future......2yrs down the road ....maybe.

I honestly feel like Secondary and ILB are a bigger priority than WR it TE. We have Walker (old yes) but we have him and he is playing well. We could use a WR no doubt, but we can get a fine one at 18 or in the 3rd to park next to Matthews and Sharpe. Our MLB and Secondary positions are really struggling, and 31st ranked should make that very clear against the pass. We can't run if we are playing from behind and running is what we do best....

It should also be noted that our pass rush really fell off the 2nd half of last year and I think JRob and co. Noticed this. Visits and word is pointing towards it as well. I would not be surprised to see us take a DE at 5.

I agree with both of your last comments. As I said earlier DB has to still be our biggest need IMO. I was making the point earlier to others that taking a TE in the 1st is not in the best interest of the team IMO. I even see the need of WR as bigger. However, our defense cost us games last yr.

When we were ahead Mularkey took his foot off the gas on offense and attempted to ride the clock. When he did that the defense was not able to hold up. I really DO NOT like the old school ride the clock way of thinking. It will cost you games in todays' NFL. Offenses are just so dead set on scoring fast & repeatedly; it is damn near impossible to play the ride out the clock game.

Anyway it goes the defense must be better this year. Especially defending the pass. We were terrible in coverage against TEs & WRs.

As you mentioned our Pass Rush fell off badly at the end of the year. Casey stepped up some toward the end of the season; but it seemed like Rak & Morgan slowed. They need quality behind them. A quality DE to replace Jones would be good IMO as well. He is adequate against the run, but is not much of a pass rush threat.

I originally voted C, after the guard signing I would give it a C+. Still not quite a B, but getting closer to it.
