Markus Wheaton

Ive always liked his game, would be a solid piece.

 

Good idea. Probably fits JR's idea of value.

 

I actually liked Wheaton a lot coming out....He just got buried a bit on the depth chart and had that injury.

 

He underwhelmed the hell out of me. I watched him a decent bit the past few years when looking for fantasy deals, thinking he'd get a ton of targets after Martavis Bryant got suspended the first time. He lacked separation ability, mediocre hands, had just OK after the catch ability, and really did nothing to show any kind of real game changing play-maker traits. And that's with Big Ben throwing to him, so it's not like he's a good WR with a scrub QB.

If we're looking for an upgrade on Harry Douglas, then sure, he's fine on a 1 year prove-it deal. But we definitely don't need to put any eggs in the Wheaton basket.

 

So I did a little more digging, and his 2015 season gets a huge boost from a 200 yard game against Seattle where if I remember correctly, they game planned stopping AB and MB and Wheaton ran free pretty much.

Other than that he doesn't have a single game in his career for over 100 yards. So that certainly seems much more like a fluke game than some glimpse at potential greatness.

I'll pass on anything more than a really cheap 1 year deal.

Brave, this dude sucks. Took him three years to find a starting role and then get replaced by no bodies that also couldn't catch. Hard pass
