Not a chance. Just on measurements alone he is a 1st rounder, and has the resume of a potential top 15 pick. Then you throw in his intangibles similar to Mariota, this is a guy thats prepared every where he goes. I expect the nfl combine to elevate his stock even more.

I'm not a fan of taking a WR at #5 because I don't feel like you have to have a true#1 WR to win in the league....If he runs in the 4.3s and has a sub 7.0 3 cone drill then I think he will check all the boxes for what it takes to be an elite level WR in the draft.

Just have CAPABLE receivers....NE proves that year in and year out with guys that run crisp routes with good hands. Our Defense is costing us games. I say we address the secondary and LB positions. Then go WR.

Scheme dependent. A squad of good possession guys coupled with a deep threat can win in the league... but it requires those WRs to be employed at the same time. Heavy route combos, rubs, scheming to attack a zone in certain ways...

We however run iso-routes primarily where the WR is asked to get open without any real help. We ran picks to get guys open in tight areas. Heavy reason for the ISO routes were to keep the defense in man coverage, and our lack of WRs employed on the field for the run game.

So for our offense to take that next step, yes a wr1 is a real need.

    Pats are an anomaly though.

Can't really use them as an example in this instance IMO.

I dare the Titans to trot out white boys like Edelman, Hogan, Amendola, etc... it would be disastrous.

Most contenders typically have a true #1 WR. Look at the other teams in the championship games... Julio, Brown, Nelson. All #1 WRs. It's very important in today's league.

I'm not saying we absolutely should go WR at #5, but I think it'd be pretty damn hard to pass on Mike Williams there assuming there are no red flags with him. After all, look at the history of Clemson WRs over the last few years. Watkins, Hopkins, Bryant.

I do agree we have more pressing needs, but if Williams is the best player on the board and we aren't able to get a great deal trading back, I think we should take him.

I wish people would stop using history to rate prospects. Plus two of those three aren't even really good examples. Williams is not the prospect Hopkins was coming out. I don't get his hype. Sure he's good at making contested catches but he doesn't separate well at all. So I'm not sure he is going to come down with as many fifty fifty balls like he did in college. I could be wrong but I'll take Davis 100/100 times.

Other than matthews, the issue I have is we do not have "capable" wide receivers. MM is never going to reach his potential unless we give him weapons that can get separation.............................Harry Douglas, andre johnson do not fit the bill.

I'm with you no doubt...I just think they can trade back or get a WR as the 2nd first round pick or 2nd/3rd rounder that will still improve us and getting ELITE talent early. We need playmakers badly...Especially on Defense in the secondary/LB positions. We are so thin there it's bad, and I don't see any studs in FA that will fill that void.

I don't see Mike Williams as a top 5 guy. That is reserved for the Calvin Johnson, Andre Johnson, Julio Jones, AJ Green guys. Elite size, elite speed. Game changers.

I could see Mike Williams having Hopkins or Allen Robinson type production, but those guys are very good receivers that can be taken out of the game. I see Williams as a mid-1st round kind of guy, at best.
