Bosa is a good comparison. Bosa didn't test extremely well and I don't expect a blazing forty from Barnett. I will be interested in his ten yd split though. You can't deny his production. He isn't Garrett athletically but he was the better college player in a great conference. There is no denying JR likes production and you can never have enough pass rushers. He's been a problem for SEC offenses since his freshman year.

Yes...great production and in college, he's a major problem!!! Just rewatched their Bowl game and he was pretty unblockable! But this game is about projecting to the NFL, not the SEC. Both have beaten high draft prospects. The higher upside will go to the more athletic guy for the most part.

I expect Garrett to test well. I don't expect Barnett to test as well. Question is, how close or far off or how much better is he than NFL norms for his size/weight.

We will revisit this question after the combine/pro days when we have actual athletic measurements.

Who do you expect to have the longest most productive career as a pro Garrett or Barnett????

I'd put my money on Barnett. Garrett might make more highlight plays, but overall I think Barnett will be the better all around player in terms of rushing the passer and playing the run.

I think it would be an ideal situation for him to be drafted by a team like the Titans. He wouldn't be forced to be an every down player as a rookie. He would have 2 solid pros to learn from in Orakpo and Morgan.

Pass rushers are extremely athletics based. Barnett trying to get round the corner is often met with a lot of struggle. He gets forced wide pretty often. Not enough bend to win at the collegiate level... won't change in the pros. Good first step and 1 pass rush move from the edge.

If you find him inside playing three tech though... he shows more ability. Hand over, swats, bull rush ability, but not on Garrets level as an edge prospect.

Garrett by far. better strength, speed, bend. I don't know what advantage Barnett has over Garrett as a prospect.

I'm not saying Barnett is more athletic than Garrett. Garrett most certainly wins that comparison. I think Garrett could to be like Jevon Kearse...Athletic freak who makes a bunch of splash plays for 3 yrs, but then breaks down and doesn't do much...while Barnett could have a career like James Harrison a few spectacular years, but still contributes solidly even after his prime.

Barnett feels like Derrick Morgan to me.

Very. I think Morgan has a tinge more bend actually.

Okay I don't know what the point is then. We're just guessing. If we can't name a certain quality about Barnett you like more then its just guessing game.
