The problem is three fold. First, will there be a top 5 caliber player that we need? Probably not. But essentially we'd have to drop back to at least pick 17 or later to get a 2nd this year and ask for a 2nd next year. Most teams won't give up a 2nd next year when they don't know how good or bad they will be.

The second problem is, why are they moving up? Unless there is a QB or Garrett or Allen or a RB that absolutely have to get there, who would they be giving up that much draft capital for? That's the real problem. About the only scenario is if Denver needed to move up for a QB or Washington wanted the 2nd rb IF one went to the Jags and they were convinced the Jets would take the 2nd instead of a QB.

Thirdly, we would lose the ability to manage value to a particular position. For example. Suppose our plan is to nab a #1 wr in round 1 but we only have 2 players with that grade and both go before our pick at lets say 17. Now you are really drafting for value within certain positional brackets but you won't have full control. If you don't fill your serious holes in FA...you might have to reach or not address certain positions with certain caliber picks.

Yeah as that they need to bulk up the defense a bit. And if they do just that. The Titans could be the team to beat in 2017.

I don't know, all I remember is the Jaguars taking our manhood when it counted. In all phases . Plus Andrew Luck marching his team on us effortlessly. We're gonna improve but I ain't getting carried away, especially in our own division. We did zilch. I say get M. Williams first and help us convert some dam 3rd downs when we really need em. Or whatever, I trust JRob. Actually wouldn't mind defender at 5 and then Davis or Ross either, if we don't trade back.

I hear ya and agree, but oddly enough there are GMs who see that number and the value of numbers and make decisions based on that. We will see how it plays out, but I will not be suprised at all if we walk away with a trade at #5.

I agree. Teams are going to reach on qb maybe taking 3 in the top 4 picks. I also see dalvin cooks being the missing link and trading back to 9 with the panthers would be perfect. We could get back into the 2nd round and maybe take williams or one of the S

I don't know but I felt like we messed up on quite a few key third downs in key games this season. Maybe I'm being unrealistic.

I don't see Jrob as being a guy who is too worried about the value chart. He seems to identify guys he likes and do what is necessary to get them.

At the end of the day, value doesn't matter. Within reason, position doesn't really matter. If we have to pick at five, take a stud. Front line, all pro level talent. Anything other than o line, qb, or rb is fine.

I'd rather have a true stud at a position we don't "need" (s, pass rusher, etc.) than reach on a mediocre corner.

I think foster or Williams is probably the best nexus of need and value for us.

I'm not a fan of Williams but I'm surprised more people aren't considering Barnett even with Orakpo and Morgan. Both have a history of injuries and Orakpo will be 31 although he did have one of his better seasons. I really like Barnett even if CB/ILB are bigger needs. Him and Foster are a toss up for me. Could also allow Wallace to slide inside.

I would have no problem at all taking Barnett at #5....if you think about what postions are worthy of the 5th pick it goes....QB, LT, pass rusher, shutdown CB....we don't need a QB or LT and I'm not convinced their is a CB worth the 5th pick....We have to continue to get after Luck...I'd be happy with a pass rush of Burnett, Orakpo, Morgan, and Casey...We need to find that 4th piece to replace Klug anyway....so if we can't trade out of the 5th spot I'd be fine with Barnett
