I don't understand why teams go out and hire coaches that do not fit the scheme that their players fit....Browns have been a 3-4 team and they go hire Greg Williams, Rams have the young nucleus for a great 4-3 and they go and get Wade Phillips, Bills have been a 3-4 team and they hire a 4-3 guy as the HC, Denver is a 3-4 team and they bring in a D co-ordinator who most recently has run a 4-3.

What position is Aaron Donald going to play in a 3-4??? Are you going to put a 6'0" 280 lbs guy as a DT or are they going to try and make him an over-sized OLBer or an undersized NT???

Why stick with what doesn't work? The Browns defense was 2nd worst in the league last season...

Aaron Donald is a Jurrelle Casey clone, he will thrive as a DE now.

Also, the difference in a 3-4 and a 4-3 is very minimal. Especially when teams play 50% of their defense from nickle...

Its not such a big deal.

Browns are smart to move to 4-3, better suited to it

The JagRags, not the Rams, are the ones who should be moving to 3-4

You also have to think its especially a good idea to change things up, all of the teams minus one cant seem to get out of their own way..

Something different would be a good idea..

Casey has 20lbs on Donald....I also think that Casey is better suited to the 4-3, but at least he adds a little more bulk.

I dont think 15lbs matters much, theyre both great on their feet and use good leverage to win....

Agreed that these organizations sometimes love a guy without thinking thru how it's going to work. But, there are ways to minimize the transitions. DL is not the big problem. Donald will play like Casey does as a penetrating DE in a 3-4. They won't play a two gap scheme so he'll be ok. On pass rushing downs, he'll be back to DT when they go 4 man front like we do.
