Expectations next 2 weeks

How would Dodd living up to expectations really help? He's behind the 2nd best sack duo in the NFL. It would be nice if he was playing and productive...but pressure hasnt been the problem. Unless Dodd plays CB, him not contributing this season really isn't a big deal.

 

Pressure HAS been the problem. When you see Lebeau selling out and rushing 7 and we not only don't get a sack, we don't even distract the QB. We sold out against the Bears on 4th down, and even rushed Byard for speed, and still didn't get there - and they certainly don't have an elite OL. We never affected Luck either. Just because we get a few sacks here and there doesn't mean we are winning that battle. Watch Denver today. We will be in max protect all day long. I bet you Kelly and Fasano will be in for over 50% of the plays. That's real pressure.

 

I'll agree that pressure hasn't been outstanding in every game. But I don't think it's been a "problem" either. CBs who can't cover anyone is a problem.

 

I agree....this fan base thinks Fata$$ is a star...he is above average and nothing more....totally disappears for entire games.....

 

You want me to do the research for you? Such a ridiculous claim, you'd think one would have already had the data available. There is no evidence of Mariota struggling to make throws in the middle of the field nor has there been any indication that our coaches are avoiding plays designed to attack the middle of the field.

 

With rare exception, there is not a CB in this league that can cover for more than a few seconds. Given enough time most any receiver can put a few moves on and lose the guy. DB's also have to spy the backfield at the same time. Receivers have a big advantage. But when you get pressure, and that CB knows that he only has to run with the guy for 3 seconds, he looks good. Some of these guys run up elite numbers and get a lot of INT's, then in FA they get scarfed up by another team and never produce the same results. It all begins up front. Keep repeating that.

 

Lawd. You really try hard to go against the grain lately. You're really blaming the line for how bad the secondary has been? It helps to get pressure... But QBs have a field day against this D and that isn't all on the line.

 

We have yet to find corners and linebackers that can cover for at least 1 second....

 

I didn't say he struggled, I said the middle is a dangerous place to throw the ball, so we don't do it. Try and comprehend.
