I found this info interesting....I hope he earns all of the money and makes the next 3 and 1 that we have.

    Bonuses: $1.85 Million

Murray cut $5.45 million out of the base value of the remaining four years of his contract to help facilitate his offseason trade from the Eagles to the Titanswhile adding $1.85 million of annual incentives. He's already earned $450,000. $250,000 is for reaching 1,000 rushing yards and $200,000 is for nine rushing touchdowns. There's $750,000 total for yards topping out at 1,500. It's a maximum of $750,000 with 15 rushing touchdowns. Since Murray is on pace for 1,391 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns, he should reach the 1,250-yard mark for an additional $150,000. Murray will get another $150,000 if he reaches the end zone three more times carrying the ball. He also gets $100,000 for being selected to the Pro Bowl, which should occur, and $250,000 if named AFC Offensive Player of the Year. Murray is on track to earn $700,000 with an outside shot at $1.6 million.

Since Mularkey has even admitted that he has been hurt, and is just now healing up, I wonder if DM has final say as to whether he plays or not? Could be a bad thing hurting the team just so he can get his incentives. Many have noted (correctly so) that he has not been right since the Jags game. I guess we have to remember this is a business.

So you have seen his contract? There are many ways to structure one. He could collect if we did NOT give him enough carries if he claimed he was healthy enough to play. Incentives are complicated.

    MINIMUM SALARIES
Each year the NFL minum salaries increase by $15,000, up to $435k for a rookie in 2015. A player’s minimum salary is determined by his years of experience (YOE), ranging from 0 to 10 or more.

    Reserve/Future Contracts
The majority of Reserve/Futures contracts, as well as nearly all Undrafted Free Agent signings this summer will include a minimum salary base contract. In the 2015 season that would include a salary of $435,000 in 2015, $525,000 in 2016, and if applicable $615,000 in 2017.

    VETERAN MINIMUM SALARY BENEFIT RULE
When qualified, a player with more than two years of NFL experience can earn his total minimum salary, but have a cap figure that reflects two years of experience – or in 2014, $570,000. The contract must be for only one year, and must not contain combined bonus money (signing, roster, workout) that exceeds $65,000.

For instance, Shayne Graham recently re-signed with the New Orleans Saints on a 1 year $955,000 contract. With more than two years of experience (12), and a 1 year contract, Graham qualfies for the cap hit benefit. His 2014 cap figure will be $570,000 in New Orleans.

Had he received a signing bonus of the maximum $65,000, he would have received a $1.02 million contract, with a $955,000 base salary, a $65,000 signing bonus, and a cap figure of $635,000 (570+65).

With plenty of veterans being released, or not signed back thus far in 2014, the use of the Minimum Salary Benefit Rule becomes useful both for older players looking for jobs, and teams looking to minimize their cap dollars.

No player has a "I play if I want to" clause. Mularkey may be stubborn with it, but if he felt like Murray was to the point he didn't need to play, he would shut him down.

I don't think a team would PLAY a hurt player to save money...if there was actually ever a clause in the favor of a player for number of touches. Usually incentives are structured in favor of the team, not the player. It would be pretty dumb to contractually guarantee a player a certain amount of touches. Too many variables involved in that.
