How many ILBs are elite pass rushers though?

Yeah I always scratch my head when they knock an ILB pass rush skills or lack thereof. Who cares?

If the team blitzes at all, it is pretty important to have someone on the inside with some moves and closing speed.

Overrated IMO. Most ILB can get to the QB on a blitz bc that usually means a lot of other guys are coming too. I don't particularly think it's some crazy skill

Scraping off the block is a trait/strength/technique. I prefer to see my LB get his hands extended at the poa and create room to work. When you see them kind of stand up a 300+ lb guy, you know he's going to win some of those blitz matchups

Here's a great example of what I'm talking about (even tho it's Davis) and he's not actually blitzing. This type of thing translates well into A gap blitzes at the next level.

Since we use a zone blitz scheme, in general, we like bigger LB because they usually stack and shed better and can be more productive blitzing.

Foster is a good example of this. He's smaller so he tends to rely on his speed and explosiveness and all out determination to get where he needs to go. But he's less successful with straight on blitzes when the OG sees him coming. He gets better pressure on delayed blitzes or cross x blitzes because if he gets a seam, he'll get there. So easy enough to adjust to his strengths.

I'd made my post here and then went and scrolled twitter. Like magic the perfect example popped up from one of my follows.

    How do the two compare?

    Out of curiosity
