Would anybody be opposed to starting Sims and Reed down the stretch to evaluate what we may have in them? They are a mystery right now and the only two with any potential upside in the secondary besides Byard.

We know what we have in McCain and Blake. Do we really believe we have a future with them? I didn't forget about Mccourty. I think he has been so overrated for the past couple of years that I don't see much of a future with him either.

What do we really have to lose? DB is going to be a major priority in the off season if we stick with the same group of guys.

Sims will get rotated in quite a bit. Not sure about Reed. From what I've read it sounds like he will be on ST more than anything.

To answer your question, no I wouldn't be opposed to either of them starting. McCourty may be overrated but he's not terrible like the rest of the bunch. Rotate Sims and Reed, maybe throw McCain and Blake in if it's a play they run well (if there is such a thing)

We'll know better our chances for playoffs after this week. If we lose to Broncos and Colts beat the Texans then I'm pretty much good with shifting to talent evaluation mode. Until then, put the players on the field that give us the best chance to win.

McCourty is decent he's overrated to say he's elite but he's definitely at least average

I'd start McCain and McCourty. Then when we go nickle package slide McCain inside and bring on the rotation of Sims/Reed. In dime package I'd actually go with 3 safeties and 3 CBs.

I would have cut Blake when he downed that punt at the 2 yd line.

Huh? You want to start a guy who spent all year on the practice squad? A guy who no other team wanted? He sat there for weeks and no one signed him even though any team could have.

And while McCourty may not have much of a future he is still the best DB we have right now. Benching him would be a giant slap in the face to the entire locker room.

Nobody has seen anything from Reed in the NFL...mostly due to our coaches going with the veterans. Honestly going with McCain/Blake is saying let's win games despite our DBs.

McCain is alright as a NB, its when he steps out of that role he looks a mess.

Id keep McCain in the slot, and McCourty at CB1, the #2 guy could possibly be one of Sims and Reed, but not both.

If they cut Cox then guys like Mccain dont really have a shot IMO to "start", but Sims and Reed might be able to grow into that spot.

Blake should seriously just be cut already, no idea how Cox gets dumped but Blake is still standing.
