My pet peeve, those that don't know the difference between "went" and "gone". The grammar police strike again.

Mine is that we obviously have two timelines going on.

I still say Ford is in control of everything going on.

He keeps saying he has to finish his story, there is more to write or whatever.

This narrative started 30 years ago and has been building or possibly this narrative has taken place multiple times within the park and outside.

They specifically mentions nobody stays there that long. Ford could manipulate the same events over and over.

His convo with Bernard at the end has happened multiple times.

They show you during the scene that the scenery in the room changes multiple times but the convo remains the same.

This has all happened before inside the park and out just with new faces each time.

Thandie Newton might be the wildcard here though.

I've been telling my wife since early on that this is all Ford's new narrative.

Who knows though, they'll probably surprise me somehow or another.

    ... watched 1970s Westworld

I had forgotten that it was not only Westworld, but Medievalworld & Romanworld also

Daffney from Medievalworld.... stuck up robot b*tch!

    the future .......

just some thoughts.... Yul Brynner's gunslinger is on sub level 82 of Westworld 2016. Bernard walks past him when he goes looking for Ford IIRC like episode 4 or something.

the old model 4 robots must be made of paper with gasoline for blood - Im just sayin'

IMO the critical failure from WW1973 where all but the one guest was killed must be one of the remembered events from Delores & Teddy.

The architecture from this original Westworld looks, to me, a lot like the City That the Sand Ate or whatever its called.

and as far as we know those Westworld operators suffocated to death because the damn relays were stuck.... in the future everything must be hecho de meheco

Welp... on the that 1976 classic

    FUTUREWORLD

    yeah spoiler alert.

I think WW2016 has many elements from this movie. Basic plot - Mad Doctor makes replacements for world leaders but thanks to Peter Fondas' amazing gymnastic ability the Mad Dr. gets the middle finger at the end.

WW16 pilot episode shows some escalators on sub level 83 - those exact escalators are the guest entrance of Delos' third world theme park in this movie.

They put operations in a hallway. I will just assume this is to prevent suffocation. Must still be making the relays in Meheco

Yul Brynner has a dance number as the gunslinger. Movie is worth it just for that IMO

In this movie the replacements go all the way to cell by cell copies. They are able to do it by putting you in an office chair inside a PVC pipe open pyramid thingy. Very impressive technology.

Oh and like in WW16 a large chunk of the parks staff is robots as well. Turing tests are not a big thing LOL. The test Fonda and Blythe Danner come up with is humorous.

Oh and skiing on the moon is the same as skiing on earth but with a red filter

I don't not believe the series is in any way related to the movies.

They gunslinger was an easter agg of sorts.

So here's where I'm at post finale.

I was right about Ford having written all of this. It was just his story. It is obvious that he went in and wrote the escape narrative for Thandie Newton as part of his finale with the board. Newton was intended to escape, lock down the facility and distract security teams while the party with the board was occurring in the park.

Obviously Ford is gone. Security measures will lock down the park for the foreseeable future. They stated previously that the park is very secluded, self contained and difficult to communicate with so in theory weeks might go by before the outside world shows up to investigate.

I believe people will survive the massacre. I think William will and he has the potential to be a big bad in a real wild west in the park next year where people can die. I think the hot black chick board lady will as well.

Thandie and Delores proved that they could gain sentience and make their own choices off script by Delores shooting Ford and Thandie getting off the train to go find her daughter.

I think season 2 will be in the park and about survival with real stakes.

Epic freaking show. Hated that Ford died. Part of me wanted him to win over everyone, kill the board and gain full control with maybe William on his side.

It was interesting to see that his intention all along was to pick up where Arnold failed and find a way to truly set them free. In the end his motives were pure.

Also it is interesting that Michael Crichton wrote this.

Looks like he wrote it a decade before Jurassic Park and I see so many of the same themes. The Jurassic Park novels were infinitely more complex than the popcorn movies. Westworld is Jurassic Park with cowboys and indians.

The parallels between John Hammond and Robert Ford are undeniable though I do not know if Ford is a character from the original Crichton story or not so it might be coincidence or placed there by the show's writers.

I'd love a 10 episode HBO series on Jurassic Park based on Crichton's novel rather than the popcorn movies we got.

Also, Robert Ford killed Jesse James. There are hardly any coincidences in this show but it might just be there for no real reason.

I thought maybe his name in the beginning was a take on Henry Ford.
