Is firing Mularkey during the season a bad idea?

MM was a stop-gap coach selected by a half interested owner because of his familiarity, not his record of past performance. This same owner fired Whiz on the spot after he refused to change the O plan to protect the franchise QB. This owner then led a sham CEO search. Hiring JR as the GM was an apparent desperate but fortunately good move to attempt to assemble the franchise back into something respectable.

The sequence of the moves suggest the owner simply is neither that passionate nor knowledgeable about the NFL. With that said, I think JR will step in and say we need to change HC's to provide Mariota with better gameplanning and coaching. I suspect Mularkey will offer to replace Robiskie if a contract extension is offered for him as HC. And JR will weigh the value of that versus firing Mularkey all depending upon how we finish this season. If the players tank, Mularkey gone- guaranteed.

And that doesn't even address how long we'll have LeBeau directing our 3-4. I suspect we see some younger D coaching brought in to work under LeBeau for a year or two with the understanding they will be given first consideration as LeBeau's replacement. That's how this franchise ownership operates.

    Not exactly true:

Rookie right tackle Jeremiah Poutasi struggled and was benched for the second time in three games in favor of veteran Jamon Meredith.

“You really can’t game-plan for a guy like (Watt),” Poutasi said. “Hats off to him. That’s a good defense and he’s a good player.”

Sadly, we spent a 3rd on this guy when he was rated to go in the 5th.

The way I heard it, the decision was made right after the Texans sacked and put Mariota out of the game and Whiz kept running 4 wide and having Poutasi behind to handle Watt et al. There had been some discussions that AAS told Whiz to make sure the gameplan protects Mariota.

Doesn't matter because it isn't going to hapepn.

And Josh McDaniels, career losing record and drafted Tim Tebow for god sake. Hell no to him.

You are a smart guy, but you better work on your memory. He never played against the Texans. Mett was sacked 7 times.

The absence of starting quarterback Marcus Mariota from the Titans’ lineup on Sunday means backup Zach Mettenberger will get another opportunity to pick up his first NFL victory.

Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt ruled Mariota out for the second straight week on Friday because of the sprained MCL the quarterback suffered Oct. 18 against Miami.

It's an opinion....just like your view is.
I think you do for now. MM8 doesn't need another change 17-20 games in.

Doesn't matter how many coaches in x amount of years. When you have a coach who isn't developing your investments and isn't putting your franchise in a place to win you cut your losses and find someone who will put the franchise on the right track even if it sets you back another year. Might as well let him finish the year but if he's coach next year you can kiss any hope of a competitive team and a developed mariota goodbye. Franchise is too content with mediocre coaching and wonders why nothing ever changes.

That's right. It was because Mett as the 2nd QB was getting brutalized and we were embarraased (again) in Houston. I do remember hearing that AAS wanted the QB (whomever was playing) protected and Whiz refused to run max protect.

Was that the game where Whiz never kept anyone in as an extra blocker for the best defensive player in the NFL? (Which hurts to say because I can't stand him but....)
