Just want to point out a decent VPN with an IP outside US/Canada/UK allows streaming live for ALL NFL games as I've have purchased NFL game pass the last 3 years and watched all the Titans game live at a wonderful 1080p quality stream. Game pass also allows a unique view that has a smaller "picture-in-picture" of any other game or the NFL red zone channel (I usually stream Titans alongside NFL redzone).

EDIT: Everyone has already mentioned the multitude of reasons ratings seem to finally be in decline imo. Personally, I'm watching less non-Titans NFL prime time football than I was 3-4 years ago, but started a few new projects this year that take up more time outside work is all.

I use BT Guard VPN, its $90 - $100 a year. I've been using it for 3-4 years and maybe only run into 2 instances where I couldn't connect for 24-48 hours or so (basically it has very good uptime imo). Use it for streaming a variety of things like NFL game pass, media torrenting, or surfing the dark net on Tor.

    Connection options are...
    - Fastest (usually Canada for me)
    - TCP (usually slightly slower)
    - Canada
    - Netherlands
    - Singapore.

I always go with Netherlands connection and haven't had any problems with game pass. Sometimes it shows an IP in Belgium, Denmark, and even occasionally in Sweden or the UK.

I got an email saying they are discontinuing this price point. They will only offer the 300 package like in the US.

    1. This league wide, not just in Tennessee. And there are terrible teams all the time - Fair, but it's a reason why most of us have lost interest
    2. Not the first election and debates only conflicted with two games. Ratings are down on more than just two games - True, but the media circus is running 24/7. Interviews, breaking stories, speaches, press releases. It's a distraction regardless.
    3. Price point? We are talking ratings, not stadium attendance. - Talking about watching the game. U.S. people have to pay 300 a year to watch the one team they want if they don't live in their state.
    4. Nothing new here, that has been going on for years, why are ratings dropping now - While not "new" its popularity is surgering year over year. It is just 1 of many other things competing for people's time.
    5. Not that new, been popular a while yet ratings dropping now - Same as above. Sometimes these things take awile to affect the populous.
    6. Maybe though not the first year without an interesting narrative - Compounded with the above, it could certainly have an affect.
    7. Peyton is the only major QB to leave this season and the franchise RB has been gone a long long time - Yes and no. Brady wasn't around for 4 games, Rodgers isn't looking like his old self, Newton and Wilson are either injured or playing poorly, rivers - eli - ben are all old news. We don't have anybody to really rally around.

Again some of this stuff takes awhile to sink in.
    8. Every season in the NFL is "Injury riddled". From a fantasy perspective I am seeing more than previous years. Feels like everyone and their grandmother is out.
    9. Could be though this is speculation until we see data that FF participation is down - fair

I've been saying this for a few years now.

Officiating has been horrid, 'big' name players are getting older and we are not seeing many take their place. It seems Goodell is trying to take the fun/personalities out of it.

ESPN is just trying to insert controversy at every point.

And the fact that we have really just put an awful product on the field for over a decade now is the cherry on top.

You make a lot of good points.

Rules are definitely skewed in the favor of the offense. Especially DPI.

I am a die-hard Titans fan, therefore I think its fair to consider me a bigger NFL fan than your average. But I've hardly watched any of the TNF, SNF or even MNF games. If I have nothing better to do, I tune in for a bit. But I certainly am not going out of my way to watch anything non Titans related.

The London games are too much. 1 a year is fine. Have there been 3 already this year? Anything more than 1 is too much.

I'm really just only interested in the Titans. And I play fantasy football. I constantly check other scores to see if my players scored but I'm not really tuning into other games.

Hmmm, are you talking about the VPN I mentioned or game pass? Pretty sure I I've paid $299 for NFL game pass each year (always purchasing at the beginning of the season vs now when its discounted).

It appears that you can still signup for BT Guard for a single $99 payment for 1 year. When logged into their site it appears (haven't tested it) that I can pre-pay another 12 months for $90 and my access is already paid through the end of June next year.

The NFL has been slightly declining each year for a while now, basically thanks to Goodell, but the Kaepernick ordeal pushed the decline to a much bigger level. I watch the Titans and that's about it and here's why.

-Thursday night games are usually bad. Every team has to be represented so they basically just clunk the teams with the worst ratings together (like how we keep playing JAX) and then we end up with a few solid matchups if everything goes to plan, which it usually doesn't. So really, Thursday night games aren't important to watch unless you have a fantasy player.

-Which brings me to my next point. Fantasy football has ruined the image of the NFL. People don't care about game breakdowns or what went right/wrong for teams but instead, the need for box scores and highlight plays. NFL fans don't care about other teams around the league anymore, just players. In essence, the NFL is becoming the NBA. You don't hear anyone say "let's check in on that Packers game" at the bar but instead, "how many points does Rodgers have?"

-Rule changes. More flags than ever and playing defense has become almost optional at this point. Special Teams is all but extinct unless there is a huge punt return or missed extra point.

-Player image. Maybe this is more personal for me, and definitely relates back to the Kaep issue, but I don't really care about what multi-million dollar players have to complain about. If I see an NFL player on the news it's either about him getting drunk at a bar, failing a drug test, beating his wife, beating his girlfriend, complaining about a rule change, complaining about the coach, or the latest social issue. Yawn. It makes me not care for them personally or for them on the field.

So, summary? The NFL game isn't exciting now because there is a flag on every other player while the people trying to watch the game are more frustrated with their fake game on their tiny screen while getting updates on players in games they're not even playing while checking updates to see if another player or not is going to play after getting arrested and wishing NFL countdown would stop acting like CNN.
