Tonight was fried chicken, fried okra, shells and cheese and iron skillet biscuits. That may not sound particularly unusual to most of you, but my wife is Japanese/Hawaiian and has never had Southern cooking....and she NAILED it!
A couple of days ago she made a shepherd's pie using breadfruit as the topping instead of potatoes. It was amazing! That's the first time I'd ever had breadfruit even though I've lived here for ten years and read The Mutiny On The HMS Bounty (the mutiny was indirectly abut breadfruit trading).

 

Ropa vieja with homemade red wine sauce and rice. Hard to make look fancy but daaaamn it's bomb. Being Mexican I added some chile pepper to it,
