so what, its one more week of football, might as well push to get players we want to see in the game

like I pointed out before, players gain a ton of invaluable info/guidance from the other great players they wouldn't otherwise get standing around Nashville that weekend

sure the game itself is shame, but I think it'd be a pretty good thing for the Titans if Mariota could get to the Pro Bowl and pick the minds of some greats

It is good to see some helmets with our logos on them to remind people we still have football team.

As far as picking heads, did you know he did this?

It’s an annual tradition that certain players command attention each year at the NFL Scouting Combine.

After three seasons as one of the most electrifying players in college football, Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota is one of the biggest names at this year’s event. Widely regarded as a top prospect and potential number one overall pick, the Ducks star will be under heavy scrutiny this entire week in Indianapolis.

With so much on the line, who did he turn to for guidance?

“I've been able to work with Kevin O'Connell, and Philip Rivers has come in and worked with us as well.”

While everyone knew that Mariota was being tutored by the former Aztec and recent Browns QB coach, the reveal that Rivers has been working with the promising prospect had flown under the radar. Mariota praised Rivers for his work in numerous areas as he prepares for the stark adjustment to the NFL, most notably learning pro style offenses, how to command the huddle and break down a defense. Furthermore, Mariota explained that the Bolts signal caller will continue to mentor him even after the Combine as he prepares for the NFL Draft.

That's just crazy. You can keep voting over and over again.

Exactly. Like you said earlier, just a popularity contest. That's why many first round selections don't attend. They don't get much in the way of incentive (money ) to play in an exhibition game involving players selected on factors other than talent.

Yeah, you get some 15 year old kid on there and can vote for hours. Means nothing. It used to have some status years ago, but it's just watered down now. As you say, it was incentive for contracts too, but not anymore.

the fans have a small involvement in the voting, it isnt solely based on fan votes. Coaches and other NFL players votes carry more weight than what the fans votes do..

I highly doubt that. The NFL (like most businesses is all about money). So if the fans want to see a particular player, he's going to be selected. The size of the market he is from is also a consideration. Also, the votes are posted. So if player A has 100,000 more votes than player B, how could player A not get taken?

players coaches and fans each have a 1/3 say in the votes, thats how its been for years and years
