No reason why we can't spread the ball with DW,KW,TS,RM, and DM. Mariota is clearly in his comfort zone when he's out of the shotgun calling plays. For once I would love to see this offense do something unpredictable like .........start the game in some sort of spread formation and let MM roll. If the fans would be surprised by that then I'm almost certain the Texans would be too.

There is a simple answer. The coaches answer to the GM and the GM answers to the owners. Most owners know nothing of football really...only what they 'hear.'

The Run and Shoot offense is one of the most statistically dominant offensive schemes we've seen from HS to the Pros...yet no one runs it. Why?

Because when people don't understand something and you lose...you're fired. Unless you're Belicheck...but how many of those do we have? Or desperate.

If you had brought in Chip Kelly to pair with Mariota after being run out of town in Philly...and with all the naysayers back that the offense can't work in the NFL (even though it has been for a while...just not in that pure of a form)...if anything went wrong, everyone would be blamed from the owner to the GM to the coach to Mariota. Pressure to clean house...Mariota's a bust...blah blah blah.

One only need to look at the reasoning why the Oilers dumped the Run and Shoot offense...because they lost and gave up one of the greatest comebacks in NFL history. Sure, blame the offense that scored how many points?

You'll notice that QB's that have offenses built for them tend to be successful (Russell Wilson, Kap, Taylor)...when you try to fit a square peg into a round hole, your success (or failure) has a lot more to do with talent around you, playcalling, etc.

Of course, there is one more thing, Spread QB's in the NFL tend to get hit. Mariota has already been knocked out of games last year and with the focus on keeping him healthy, hard to see the owners putting in an offense that is more risky to his health.

Only spread the Titans do is spreading their ass cheeks when they're getting reamed by every team in the league.
